Gallipoli Expedition Support Objective: Worth Taking and What It Gives
Yes, take the Support Objective most of the time. It is the optional point that decides whether an attack actually has legs or dies in no-man's-land. It gives a forward spawn, buildable mortars and field gun, and Momentum. HQ advances the map. Support makes HQ takeable.
Core problem: Attackers run out of Momentum and spawn too far back. Defenders keep a cheap spawn plus mortars and field gun next to the Headquarters and farm you while you walk. The Support Objective is the usual answer to both problems. It is optional, but it is the thing that makes HQ takeable.
1What the Support Objective Actually Gives
2Decision: Take It First or Go Straight at HQ?
Which of the two points is HQ vs Support is random each sector. Look at the map before you commit the first wave.
3Concrete Attacker Sequence
-
1
Officer pushes and whistles
so squadmates can spawn on him.
-
2
Anyone builds squad beacons as far forward as they will stay.
One beacon per squad. A worse one overwrites a better one. Attacking is "creep your spawns toward the enemy," not hero-rushing from the rear.
-
3
Cap Support, then build the mortar and gun.
Multiple Sappers on the same piece finish it faster.
-
4
Use arty dust clouds to move.
There is no Isonzo-style creeping smoke.
-
5
Cap HQ, then complete the secure task.
Build three pieces or blow the charge. Capping alone does nothing.
-
6
If Momentum is dying, Support is the fastest legal way to get some back
besides the 50-defender kill threshold.
4Common Mistakes
- Treating Support like a second HQ you must "finish." You cannot lock it. Leaving two guys on it while the rest sit on HQ is how you lose both.
- Building a second squad beacon next to an existing good one. It deletes the first.
- Capping HQ and standing around instead of building or planting.
- Ignoring defender beacons that sit on the same line as Support after you take it. They farm your back.
- Sending the whole team to Support when HQ is already 80% secured.
