Gallipoli Expedition Attacker Strategy and Momentum Management
Momentum starts at 100 and drops 1 per attacker death. If you bleed lives running from distant spawns, you never get the big refunds from first-time captures, securing HQs, and the 50-defender kill threshold. Shorten the spawn-to-fight distance and convert every capture into a secure as fast as possible.
Core problem: Attackers lose because they treat Expedition like a normal ticket or attrition mode. Momentum starts at 100 and drops 1 per attacker death. If you bleed lives running from distant spawns, you never get the big refunds from first-time captures, securing HQs, and the 50-defender kill threshold. The match then flips into Foothold overtime and you usually lose. The fix: shorten the spawn-to-fight distance and convert every capture into a secure as fast as possible.
1Step-by-Step Attacker Plan
-
1
Land and get a beacon down immediately.
Do not farm kills on the beach or first trench. Plant the squad beacon as far forward as you can survive, ideally inside or just behind the first position you take. Teammates spawning on a rear beach waste 20-40 seconds and a life each time they die. Forward beacons keep bodies on the objective and stop the run-die-respawn cycle that drains Momentum. This is the single most-repeated player tip.
-
2
Hit the Support objective first when it is close.
Support points are optional but give a forward spawn, extra weapons, and a Momentum bump. They can be recaptured later, so treat them as a temporary booster rather than a must-hold forever. Use them to stage the real push on HQ.
-
3
Capture HQ, then immediately start building.
Capturing HQ only gives a small Momentum refund. Securing it (building 3 of the 5 possible structures) gives the large refund and unlocks the next sector. Multiple players on the same structure finish it faster. Clear the point first, then commit Engineers with Frontline Builder kits while Riflemen and HMGs cover them. Bomb plant is a backup only, defenders can disarm it.
-
4
Farm the 50-kill threshold without throwing lives.
After 50 defender deaths you get a Momentum refund. The faster you hit 50, the bigger the refund. Use creeping barrage (Assault officer call-in) to soften a trench, then push with numbers instead of 1-v-1 peeking. Do not suicide-charge for the 50, the refund is worthless if you spent 40 lives getting it.
-
5
Watch the Momentum number and prepare for Foothold.
If it hits 0, Foothold starts and cannot be turned off. You must actively contest an objective that can still give Momentum or a timer starts. Actions that would have restored Momentum now only extend the timer. Stay on a live objective, do not reset to spawn.
2Key Decision Points
- Beacon now vs one more kill: Plant. A live forward spawn is worth more than most individual kills.
- Support vs HQ: If Support is on the way and lightly held, take it for the spawn and small refund, then go HQ. If it is a long detour while HQ is open, skip it.
- Build vs bomb: Build unless the point is about to be lost and you have no Engineers alive.
- Push next sector vs farm kills: Once HQ is secured the next sector layout appears. Move immediately. Sitting still lets defenders reset.
3Common Mistakes
- Leaving beacons on the beach or first trench.
- Capturing HQ and then wandering off instead of building the three structures.
- Trading 1-for-1 or worse while chasing the 50-kill threshold.
- Ignoring Foothold rules and spawning far back once Momentum is already 0.
- Solo hero charges instead of stacking on one structure or one approach.
