Gallipoli Expedition Map Flow, Sector Order, and Foothold Recovery
Sectors only open in order. Capturing HQ is not enough. Momentum drains while you dither. Once Foothold starts you cannot turn it off, you have to keep contesting or the match ends. Here is the full map flow and recovery playbook.
Core problem: Attackers stall because they treat Expedition like a normal cap-and-move mode. Sectors only open in order, capturing HQ is not enough, Momentum drains while you dither, and once Foothold starts you cannot turn it off. You have to keep contesting or the match ends.
1How the Map Actually Flows
2Step-by-Step: Take a Sector
-
1
Push a spawn forward immediately.
Anyone can place squad beacons. Attackers who stay on the original beach or spawn lose because every death is a long run. Officers should push and whistle so teammates spawn on them. Aim for multiple beacons (one per platoon). Marked in blue on the map.
-
2
Use artillery dust, not a clean open push.
There is no creeping smoke like Isonzo. Time rushes with the dust clouds from incoming arty.
-
3
Capture HQ, then check the task.
Cap alone does nothing. After the flag flips you must either Build 3 structures on the available build spots (stack multiple players on the same piece to finish faster), or plant and detonate a bomb (defenders can disarm, treat this as backup, not the plan).
-
4
Clear enemy beacons and supply caches
Once you own Support or after HQ is live. They sit on or parallel to the same lanes and let defenders spawn behind you. Destroy them so you are not farmed from the rear.
-
5
Do not idle after the sector flips.
Momentum comes back from first-time caps, securing the point, and kill thresholds. Standing around after a win is how Foothold starts on the next sector.
3Foothold Recovery (What Players Panic About)
-
1
Get bodies onto an objective that can still give Momentum (HQ first).
If nobody is contesting, the Foothold timer counts down.
-
2
Keep doing the things that used to restore Momentum.
Caps, secures, threshold kills. Those actions now extend the Foothold timer instead of filling the Momentum bar.
-
3
Stay on the point.
If the timer hits 0 and no attacker is on an objective for about 3 seconds, defenders win.
-
4
You can still win a full match after Foothold triggers in sector 1
if you keep contesting and securing. Do not reset or farm kills off-point.
4Common Mistakes
- Capping HQ and leaving before the 3 builds or bomb finish. Sector stays locked.
- No forward beacons. Team bleeds Momentum walking from the landing boats.
- Ignoring Support entirely when HQ is a meat grinder. You starve Momentum and spawn range.
- Treating Foothold like overtime you can "reset" by playing safe. It never turns off.
- Leaving enemy caches and beacons up after you take Support. You get shot in the back while building.
