Gallipoli Expedition Officer Whistle, Squad Spawn, and Beacon Placement
As attackers, dying sends you all the way back to the original spawn. You lose Momentum because everyone has to run across open ground under fire again. Two tools fix this: the Officer whistle (spawn on the officer) and squad beacons (anyone can build). Leapfrog them every sector.
Core problem: As attackers in Gallipoli Expedition, dying sends you and your squad all the way back to the original spawn. You lose Momentum because everyone has to run across open ground under fire again. Players want reliable forward squad spawns so reinforcements arrive already in the fight. Two tools solve this: the Officer whistle and squad beacons.
1Two Forward Spawn Methods
2Officer Whistle: How to Use It
-
1
Choose Officer at the start of the sector
if your squad needs immediate forward presence.
-
2
Push with cover (dust from artillery helps)
rather than sitting back.
-
3
Whistle when you have a reasonably safe position close to the current fight
so incoming teammates don't spawn into instant death.
-
4
Combine with call-ins (artillery and dust)
so the squad that just spawned on you can advance behind the cover.
3Beacon Placement: Step-by-Step
-
1
After a successful push or cap, immediately look for a build spot
close to the next objective but not sitting in the middle of the trench or fight.
-
2
Place it in cover
behind captured trench, slight depression, or just off the main approach, so it lasts more than a few seconds.
-
3
Check the map: other squads' beacons show in blue.
Your team ideally wants five forward beacons (one per squad). Don't cluster them all in the exact same spot.
-
4
After you take a Support objective, push parallel along the same line
and hunt the defenders' beacons and caches so they lose their own forward spawn.
4Key Decision Points
- Existing beacon already very close to the objective? Do not build a new one unless yours is clearly better (safer or further forward). The old one will be deleted.
- Mid-combat in the open? Wait 10-20 seconds for a quieter pocket rather than dropping it where an engineer or grenade will instantly destroy it.
- Defending side: you cannot rebuild beacons. Protect the pre-placed ones in each sector instead of wandering off.
5Common Mistakes
- Never building beacons and expecting the Officer whistle alone to carry the attack. Most squads still run from the back spawn.
- Building the replacement beacon slightly behind or in a worse spot than the one that already exists.
- Dropping the beacon in the exact center of the captured objective where enemies immediately see and destroy it.
- Ignoring enemy beacons after you take the Support point. They keep spawning behind or flanking you.
- Playing Officer but hanging back so the whistle spawn is no closer than the default spawn.
