Marvel Rivals Season 4: Krakoa Portal Strategy
Krakoa Hellfire Gala Domination strategy - use the spawn-to-point portal every life, time mid-map portals for retakes, concrete rotate order, hero-specific plays, and the mistakes that lose overtime.
Core problem: On Krakoa (Hellfire Gala Domination - Cradle, Grove, Carousel), most teams walk the same long center lanes every fight. Portals sit unused, rotates are slow, people stagger after dying, and overtime is lost because nobody takes the short path that dumps you next to point. The map is built around a portal network. Early fights are normal cover fights. Once capture progress hits roughly the halfway mark (around 40 to 50 percent, visible as the portal glow filling), the game becomes a tempo and portal map. The team that uses portals for a second angle or a fast retake usually wins the next fight.
1Use the Spawn-to-Point Portal First
Every variant has a floor portal a few steps out of spawn. Stand on it. It dumps you a few steps from the objective instead of the long run.
- 1Walk 5 steps, take it, you're on point while teammates are still jogging main.
- 2Players still run past it months later. That's why the high-upvote threads exist.
- 3After you exit there is a short lockout before the next person can use the same portal. Don't stack the whole team on one pad.
2Time the Mid-Map Portals for Retakes
Side and back portals open with objective progress. They are loud (sound cue). Community consensus:
- 1Do not use them as a first-engage surprise when the enemy is already looking at that exit. You get rolled.
- 2Do use them when your team is already fighting on point or when you need to collapse from a second angle after the enemy commits to main.
- 3Many exits drop you next to a health pack. Use that for reset or to win a 1v1 then re-enter.
3Concrete Rotate Order for Pub Games
- 1First 30 to 40 percent of the point: hold the closest cover around the capture zone and the most direct enemy doorway. Don't wander the extra rooms.
- 2When portals light up: one or two players take a side portal for a wrap while the rest stay on the main hold. Supports stay on the safer exit so they don't get isolated.
- 3After a wipe or when you lose point: dead players take the spawn portal immediately instead of walking. Living players take the nearest side portal that puts them behind the enemy hold.
- 4Overtime: ping the portal, take it, don't walk main.
The original complaint threads are almost all I was 1v6 on point and four people walked the long way.
4Hero-Specific Plays That Work
Start charge as you leave spawn, keep it through the portal, slam on the other side next to the pack. People don't expect a Thing to appear there.
Dive the short downstairs portal that dumps you on the far side, then portal or disc back.
You can glide or path from spawn toward point on some layouts. Still combine with the pad when it's up.
The pits and edges near some points are real. Portal plus knock-off is mentioned in team-comp talk.
Key Decisions
- Portal open plus your team already on point? Send 1 or 2 through a side portal for a crossfire. Don't send 5.
- Portal open plus you are losing the hold? Use the portal that lands behind their front line, not the one that dumps you into their face.
- Just respawned and point is contested? Spawn pad first. Walking main is how you stagger.
- Enemy is camping the obvious portal exit? Don't take it. Take the other pair or the long flank they aren't watching.
Common Mistakes
- Running past the spawn floor portal every single life.
- Treating every portal as a silent flank. The sound gives you away.
- Whole team taking one portal and arriving as a staggered clump because of the lockout.
- Ignoring the health pack on the far side of many portals and dying 10 meters from it.
- Fighting only the center lane after 50 percent when the map is designed to be split.
