Zeri ADC Build Guide - Current Patch
Zeri feels weaker early after AS nerfs but spikes hard mid-game. The key is hitting 1.5 attack speed with Phantom Dancer as fast as possible to maintain ultimate uptime and kite damage. Conqueror is the current dominant rune over Lethal Tempo in most matchups.

Key Decisions
Core Concept: The 1.5 AS Breakpoint
Why Phantom Dancer is near-mandatory: Zeri's ult gives her movement speed that lets her stay in range while kiting. Without hitting 1.5 attack speed, her ult falls off quickly and she loses the chain lightning and Q auto enhancement that make her damage work. PD is the single item that makes this breakpoint reliable.
Early game reality: Zeri is weak in lane against Draven and Caitlyn-type bullies. Play safe, farm toward your first item power spike, and do not try to win early trades. Your game starts at 2-3 items in mid-game teamfights.
Runes
Primary
Conqueror - Current top rune. Stacks extremely fast thanks to Zeri's extended auto range and Q spam. The sustained damage and healing in extended teamfights outperform Lethal Tempo in most situations, especially against tanky comps.
Alt
Lethal Tempo - Still viable in poke-heavy or long-range enemy team compositions where you need faster ramp-up and less sustained fighting. Use this when Conqueror stacking feels awkward against your specific matchup.
Secondary runes: Triumph + Legend: Bloodline or Alacrity + Coup de Grace / Cut Down. Secondary tree: Precision or Domination (Taste of Blood + Ultimate Hunter).
Avoid: Resolve secondary tree has lost value post-Shieldbow changes. Do not default to it.
Build Paths
Starter: Doran's Blade into heavy engage supports (Nautilus). Doran's Bow + adaptive shards otherwise - the movement speed from Bow helps maintain ult uptime earlier.
Bruiser Path - vs Heavy Frontline
Conqueror / Hexplate Setup
Experimental Hexplate
->
Phantom Dancer
->
YunTal / Bloodthirster
Best into melee-heavy or tanky enemy compositions. Hexplate gives the bruiser feel against frontline while Conqueror stacks provide healing to stay in fights longer. Add LDR fourth if enemies are stacking armor.
Standard Crit Path - Most Games
Hexoptics or Stormrazor Start
Hexoptics / Stormrazor
->
Phantom Dancer
->
Infinity Edge / YunTal
->
LDR / Bloodthirster
Hexoptics is often preferred by high-elo players for its value in most matchups. Stormrazor is a solid first item choice too. Both lead into the same PD second + crit carry finish. Prioritize AD over raw AS in item choices post-nerf.
Never build Statikk Shiv. It does not synergize with Zeri's kit post-changes and is a gold-wasting bait item regardless of how it looks in the item shop.

Key Decision Points
vs Tanks / Melees
Hexplate + Conqueror Path
Heavy frontline means you will be in sustained fights. Hexplate plus Conqueror stacking and healing output makes Zeri survivable in those conditions. The AD scaling from Conqueror stacks also hits harder than Lethal Tempo against multiple tankier targets.
vs Poke / Kite Lanes
Stormrazor / Hexoptics + LT
Against longer-range poke compositions where trades are shorter, Lethal Tempo ramps faster. Start Stormrazor or Hexoptics and rush Phantom Dancer second. The movement speed from PD lets you disengage from poke while sustaining ult uptime.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
!
Building Statikk Shiv - It does not fit Zeri's kit post-changes. The waveclear stat sticks do not contribute to her hypercarry scaling. Always skip it.
!
Skipping Phantom Dancer - Without PD you fall below the 1.5 AS threshold and lose ult uptime. Zeri without ult active is a significantly worse champion. PD is not optional.
!
Playing aggressively early in bad matchups - Zeri is weaker than Draven and Caitlyn before items. Trying to fight before your first item spike is how you get bullied out of lane and fall behind in gold. Farm and scale.
!
Buying Berserker's Greaves in most games - Tabis or Mercs are almost always better. Zeri gets her attack speed from PD, not boots. The defensive stats from Tabis/Mercs are far more valuable than the minor AS bonus from Zerks.
!
Prioritizing raw AS items over AD - Post-nerf, Zeri's AS-to-damage conversion is weaker. Build toward AD (IE, YunTal) after PD rather than stacking more AS items. Higher AD delivers more output per item slot.
