Palworld Best Flying Mounts Complete Guide
Progression guide for flying mounts in Palworld 1.0. From early Nitewing to endgame Jetragon, Xenolord, and Eidrolon. Speed, stamina, passives, and which mount to pick at each stage.
The Mount Progression Problem
Palworld 1.0 has many flying mounts but their speed, stamina, and availability vary wildly. Players waste time chasing endgame mounts too early or staying on starter mounts too long. The key is upgrading in stages: catch what is available at your level, condense it, and swap to the next tier when you can. The biggest jumps in travel quality come from Helzephyr, Suzaku, Shadowbeak, and the endgame trio of Xenolord, Eidrolon, and Jetragon.
Upgrade in order. Each tier is a clear improvement in speed or stamina. Do not breed perfect passives on a mount you will replace in 10 levels. Condense for the partner skill speed boost, saddle up, and fly.
Step-by-Step Mount Progression
-
Nitewing (Level 15) - The On-Ramp
Tier Starter Slow Low StaminaCatch the first available flying mount. It is slow and has poor stamina, but it lets you start flying and reach new areas immediately. Craft its saddle as soon as the tech unlocks.
Replace it as soon as possible. Everything else is a clear upgrade. This is just the on-ramp.
-
Helzephyr (Level 25) - Early Workhorse
Tier +45% Speed vs Nitewing +70% Stamina vs NitewingTarget Helzephyr next. It sprints roughly 45% faster and lasts about 70% longer than Nitewing. It is easier to obtain than Beakon or Ragnahawk in the same tier.
Catch multiples and start condensing toward higher stars for the partner skill speed boost. Prefer this over chasing Beakon or Ragnahawk immediately if those packs feel too tough.
-
Mid-Game Options (Levels 29-43) - Pick Based on Needs
Level 29 Beakon (Electric, partner skill synergy)Level 29+ Ragnahawk (Fire, close to Beakon performance)Level 43 Suzaku (double Helzephyr stamina, Fire typing)Beakon has an Alpha near the lonely ice mountain and lake area with lots of regular Beakons nearby. Catch about 48 to fully condense quickly. Pair with other Electric pals in your party for extra speed from the partner skill.
Ragnahawk is close in performance to Beakon and Helzephyr. Some prefer the look or find one early from eggs or merchants. Good Fire utility.
Suzaku is the big mid-game upgrade. Roughly double the stamina of Helzephyr, solid speed, and Fire typing that keeps you warm in cold areas. Suzaku Aqua has extra hover and fishing utility later.
Decision PointIf you value pure travel stamina and temperature comfort, go Suzaku. If you already have a condensed Beakon with Electric team synergy and it feels fine, keep using it. Quivern is breedable earlier but lacks hover and can drown more easily.
-
Shadowbeak (Level 47 Tech / 54 Capture) - Pre-Endgame MVP
Tier Suzaku-range non-sprint Faster sprint than Suzaku Works in hot areasWorth the effort even if it takes a few deaths to capture. Non-sprint speed matches Suzaku for great range on a smaller stamina pool, and it sprints faster when needed. Excellent on the ground too in restricted-flight zones.
Works better in hot areas where Suzaku overheats you. Players call it the MVP for the balance of speed, efficiency, and versatility before true endgame.
-
Endgame Top Mounts (Level 62+) - The Final Choice
All-Rounder Frostallion / Frostallion NoctStamina King Xenolord (~300 stamina, weapons while mounted)Burst Speed Eidrolon / Eidrolon Ignis (Dragon synergy, hover)Max Sprint Jetragon (3300 base sprint, missiles)Frostallion and Frostallion Noct are direct upgrades from Shadowbeak. Strong overall speed and stamina. Harness materials are demanding, so expect a real time investment.
Xenolord is frequently praised for travel. Only top-tier speed mount with roughly 300 stamina, about triple many others. Can traverse large map sections (volcano to desert) in one sprint, especially with Eternal Engine. Lets you use your own weapons and tools while mounted.
Eidrolon and Eidrolon Ignis are extremely fast with a maxed partner skill plus matching Dragon team. Can outperform others in short-to-medium bursts. Smaller stamina pool than Xenolord. Hovers and lets you use weapons.
Jetragon has the highest base sprint speed at 3300. Natural Legend passive. Best pure top-end speed for short distances. Missiles while riding. Lower stamina and you generally cannot use your own weapons the same way.
Passives and Optimization
Once you have your mount, optimize with the right passives. For pure travel, prioritize:
This combination can give massive boosts. Players report examples like +50% speed and +125% stamina range.
For combat-oriented mounts, mix in Runner, Serenity, or attack and defense passives instead.
Condensing to 4 stars is high-value because it strengthens the partner skill speed boost. Star fruit from merchants can speed this up. Implants via surgery table (from Arena or Bounty) help apply passives later. Do not stress perfect passives before level 60 to 65 unless you enjoy breeding.
Key Decision Points
-
Pure Max Speed vs Long Distance
For pure max speed and short hops, choose Jetragon or a fully set-up Eidrolon. For long-distance travel with minimal landing, choose Xenolord as the stamina king. Many players stay on a well-bred Xenolord or Eidrolon as their permanent main.
-
Balanced Speed and Combat Utility
For balanced speed plus combat utility plus aesthetics and hover, choose Eidrolon or Frostallion Noct. Both let you use weapons while mounted and hover in place.
-
When to Breed Passives
Do not breed perfect passives on a mount you will replace soon. Focus on condensation for the partner skill boost at each tier. Save serious breeding for your endgame mount around level 60 to 65.
-
Party Synergy for Partner Skills
Match your party to your mount for partner skill bonuses. Electric pals for Beakon, Dragon pals for Eidrolon. Neglecting party synergy means leaving free speed on the table.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Staying on Nitewing or an uncondensed early mount too long. The speed and stamina jump to Helzephyr, Beakon, or Suzaku is huge.
- Ignoring hover capability early if you want to reach distant islands without a separate water mount.
- Chasing old pre-1.0 favorites like regular Faleris too early. They are locked later and better options exist by then.
- Focusing only on base speed numbers without testing stamina or real map travel. Xenolord shines in actual distance covered.
- Neglecting party synergy for partner skills. Electric pals for Beakon, Dragon pals for Eidrolon, and so on.
- Breeding and passives too early when you will replace the mount within 10 levels. Focus on condensation instead.
