NBA 2K27: PS5 Xbox Crossplay Which Modes
PS5 and Xbox Series can play together in NBA 2K27. Enable crossplay, add friends across consoles, and squad up in co-op MyCAREER, City, Park, and online tournaments. PC and Switch 2 are not included.

1Enable Crossplay on Both Consoles
- 1In-game: Main menu, scroll to the bottom, turn Cross Play ON.
- 2Xbox system settings (if in-game toggle is missing or grayed out):
Settings, Account, Privacy and online safety, Xbox privacy, View details and customize, Communication and multiplayer, set Cross-play to Allow.
- 3PlayStation: Confirm privacy settings allow cross-platform communication and that you have an active PS Plus subscription.
Xbox needs Game Pass Core or equivalent.
2Add Each Other as Friends
- 1On the main menu press L1 plus R1 (or Xbox equivalent bumper combo) to open the friends overlay.
- 2Search the other player's exact PSN ID or Xbox gamertag.
- 3Send the request. The other player must have friend requests open.
- 4Once accepted you will see a platform indicator (PS5 or Xbox) next to their name.
3Invite and Play
- 1Load into The City or Park.
- 2Press L1 plus R1 again, select the friend, and invite them to your session or join theirs.
- 3They appear in your lobby. From there you can queue together.
- 4For co-op MyCAREER: toggle co-op on a game-by-game basis.
Friend controls your Running Mate Trace Miller. Both earn full separate VC and XP.
Key Decisions
- Same-console vs crossplay squad: If you only play with people on your own console, leave crossplay off to shrink the matchmaking pool. If you have friends on the other console, leave it on.
- MyCAREER co-op vs City grind: Use co-op MyCAREER when you want to play story and NBA games together. Use City, Park, or REC invites for quick 5v5 or 3v3 runs.
- Auction House vs gameplay: MyTEAM Auction House is shared with Switch 2 as well, but that is cards only, not actual matches.
Common Mistakes
- Forgetting the console-level privacy toggle. Especially on Xbox. The in-game switch alone is not enough.
- Searching the wrong name or having friend requests closed. Use the exact PSN ID or Xbox gamertag.
- Expecting PC or Switch 2 friends to appear. They never will. Crossplay is PS5 to Xbox only.
- Assuming every single mode is confirmed in writing. 2K only lists co-op matches and online tournaments. Test the specific mode you care about after adding the friend.
- Playing without an active online subscription. PS Plus or Game Pass Core is required.
