NBA 2K27 Fire and Concrete Draft Board Story Guide
Fire and Concrete is an 11-chapter MyCAREER story where draft position is no longer locked. Dominate the prelude to climb to #1 overall, or skip to Chapter 6 and pick your team. Here is how to climb the board, complete forced objectives, and earn all 180 stars.
Core goal: climb the draft board as high as possible, ideally #1 overall, during the Fire and Concrete prelude so you control your landing spot. Or skip the slog and just pick your team. Then get through the 11 chapters without wasting hours on failed objectives and bad AI teammates. Draft position is no longer locked. Performance in the high school, Rucker Park, and G League prelude moves your stock. Dominate and you can earn the actual #1 pick. You can always manually select any team at the draft regardless of where you land.
The Start Decision
1How to Climb the Draft Board
-
1
Play the prelude games and complete the on-screen objectives.
Stock rises with strong performances and 3-star ratings on games and challenges. Scouts are watching. Big stat lines and wins help more than just surviving.
-
2
Lower the difficulty to Rookie or Pro if teammates keep failing.
Community consensus: the AI teammates in these games are poor and the objectives punish you for playing normally. Do not fight Superstar or Hall of Fame with unupgraded teammates.
-
3
On pick-and-roll objectives: call the screen, then fade or shoot it yourself.
Do not force the roll to a slow teammate. You do not have to be the passer every time. The objective says assists, but you can still score yourself and hit other goals.
-
4
Hit the specific goals shown before and during games.
Assists in a stretch, points in a quarter, etc. Missing them often forces a replay or drops stars.
-
5
Play through the full prelude if #1 pick is the goal.
Skipping to Chapter 6 still lets you pick a team but you lose the performance-based climb. At the draft, if you earned #1 you can take the team that holds it or override and go anywhere.
2After the Draft
-
1
The main Fire and Concrete story continues through your rookie season and that year's FIBA tournament.
Key Games, 8 sets of 6 games each with extra narrative, unlock in year two.
-
2
A 40-level reward track uses stars earned from dominating those games.
Completing the story only nets 162 stars. The full Fire and Concrete reward track needs 180, which requires a Rebirth build for the extra stars.
-
3
Invite a friend as Running Mate Trace Miller once you reach the G League, roughly 1-2 hours in.
He stays with you. Choose his build template to complement yours so he does not tank teammate grade objectives. You cannot delete Trace Miller. He is locked in for the story path.

Common Mistakes
- Starting the full story then realizing you cannot skip the remaining G League games and forced challenges. Once you commit to Chapter 1, you are in for the long haul.
- Playing on Superstar or Hall of Fame with unupgraded teammates. Objectives become a grind. Drop to Rookie or Pro.
- Ignoring the 3-star system. Completing the story only nets 162 stars. The full reward track needs 180, which requires a Rebirth build for the extra stars.
- Expecting to play "your way." Many games force specific plays, quick plays with the Running Mate, exact assist totals, or you replay them.
- Thinking you can delete Trace Miller. He is locked in for the story path. Choose his build template carefully.
