NBA 2K27 MyCAREER Eras: Does Career Stop at Next Era?
Yes, your MyCAREER Eras career stops at the end of the era you picked. You cannot carry the same MyPLAYER into the next historical window. Here is what to do before you commit VC.
Core answer: Yes. In NBA 2K27 MyCAREER Eras, your career stops at the end of the era you picked. You cannot carry the same MyPLAYER into the next historical window. Each era is a closed window. When that window ends, the save is done for NBA seasons. You get pushed to The City/Park or you make a new build for a different era.
What Actually Happens
- 1You pick one of five starts at character creation: Magic vs. Bird (1984), Jordan (1991), Kobe (2003), LeBron (2010), or Steph (2016).
- 2Rosters, trades, and rules stay historically locked inside that window only.
- 3You play seasons, complete Eras Moments, and grind the 40-level Eras reward track.
- 4When the game reaches the end of that era's time slice, the career for that MyPLAYER ends.
Players who started LeBron Era report being locked after roughly six seasons (into 2016). You do not roll into Steph Era, modern NBA, or another historical start with the same guy.
1How to Choose the Era
Pick based on how many seasons you actually want and which legends you want on the floor, not on the trailer fantasy of a 20-year all-time career.
- 1984Magic vs. Bird: Longest window. Start here if you want maximum seasons with one build.
- 1991Jordan: Long historical stretch. Good for extended play.
- 2003Kobe: Kobe stays on the Lakers until that era ends or he retires in-window. Not until 2016+ with the same save.
- 2010LeBron: Short run (~2010-2016). Several players already hit the wall and posted the retirement/City message.
- 2016Steph: Shortest remaining historical stretch before the mode cuts you off.
2Steps Before You Commit VC
- 1At the MyCAREER start screen, choose MyCAREER Eras (not Fire and Concrete / The City) so you skip the modern story and Trace Miller co-op path.
- 2Create the build knowing this save dies with the era. Do not dump every last VC into one Eras character if you also want a modern or second-era grind.
- 3Play the era you care about first. Complete Eras Moments as you go. That 40-level cosmetic track is the progression that exists inside the window.
- 4When the end-of-era message appears, treat the NBA career as finished. Use the player in The City or start a new Eras/Fire and Concrete save. There is no "continue to next era" button on the same file.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Assuming "full run of his era until he retires" means you keep the same MyPLAYER through Kobe to LeBron to Steph. It does not.
- Building one expensive 99 and expecting to hop eras with him.
- Starting LeBron or Steph Era expecting a long career. Those windows are the shortest.
- Mixing this up with MyNBA / MyNBA Legacy, which does allow long multi-decade / 100-year franchise runs and even passing a legend to a son. That is a different mode.
