Stop dying as Michael because Shape Jump won't let you out, and stop wasting time because Stalk never hits Tier 3. You need darkness and no line of sight to enter and exit Shape Jump, and Killer Sense to actually fill the Stalk meter so grabs, tracking, and closer exits work.
Shape Jump = ghost form Stalk tiers 1-3 Dark + no LOS
The movie rule: Shape Jump only works in darkness and when nobody is looking at you. Streetlights, porch lights, and lit rooms block enter and exit. Civilians know this and run lamp-to-lamp. The ability is not broken, the rule is the movie rule.
Two Systems
How Shape Jump and Stalk Work Together
Shape Jump
Ghost or shadow form. Faster, invisible, phases through doors, windows, and fences. About 5 second cooldown. Heroes near you hear breathing, not directional. Windows can shake if you pass through them.
Stalk Meter
Per-target tiers 1 to 3. Standing nearby ticks a circular bar slowly. Killer Sense, click right stick or R3 for first-person stare, is what actually pushes tiers. Hold the focus input, often RT, to speed it up.
Stalk Payoff
Weaker struggle when grabbed, target stays marked if they run, better environment kills, and you can exit Shape Jump closer to that person. That last one is the part players keep missing.
Bloodthirst
Separate from Stalk. Built by stalking, kills, and staring at corpses in Killer Sense. Speeds Shape Jump travel, shortens cooldowns, unlocks nastier executions. Light, damage, and knockdowns drain it. Farm NPCs first.
Shape Jump
How to Not Get Stuck
1
Get into shadow. Streetlights, porch lights, and lit rooms block enter and exit. Civilians know this and run lamp-to-lamp.
2
Confirm nobody is looking at you, player or NPC. Line of sight blocks enter and exit.
3
Activate Shape Jump and move. Use it to cross fences, locked doors, and windows, not just to teleport on top of someone.
4
To drop out, find a dark pocket outside their field of view. Closets and other hiding spots ignore the light and LOS rules. Use them when a house is fully lit.
5
Prep the house. Stalk outside first if you can, then kill the power so the interior is legal exit space. Blackout helps, but standing streetlights still exist.
If the room is bright and someone is watching the doorway, do not try to pop out there. Shape Jump into a closet or hiding spot, or cut lights first.

How to Fill Stalk to Tier 3
1
Get a dark angle. Bush, window, or closet.
2
Click into Killer Sense and keep the target in the stare. Do not just stand near them and expect Tier 3.
3
Hold the focus input to speed the bar. Extra residents in view means faster fill. Higher Bloodthirst means extra stalk speed.
4
Hit Tier 3 before the grab if you want the good executions, easier hold, and closer Shape Jump exit.
5
After a kill, stay in Killer Sense on the body to feed Bloodthirst instead of instantly chasing the next person.
Decision Points
Key Choices
NPC vs Player
Stalk and execute NPCs first to bank Bloodthirst, then spend it on human players. Tunneling one runner in the street under lights is how Myers games stall.
Bright Room Exit
Do not pop out where someone is watching. Shape Jump into a closet or hiding spot, or cut the power first.
Stalk Before Grab
Popping out on a civilian with no Stalk means they fight or wiggle and you lose the grab. Hit Tier 3 first.
Reality Tear Overrides
Some loadouts have an ability that can force enter or exit with a long cooldown. Do not burn it as a crutch every time. Learn legal exits first.

Common Mistakes
What Stalls Michael
x
Trying to enter or exit Shape Jump in light or while stared at. The ability is not broken; the rule is the movie rule.
x
Treating nearby proximity as "full stalk." Without Killer Sense you stall at a weak tier.
x
Popping out on a civilian with no Stalk so they fight or wiggle and you lose the grab.
x
Chasing under streetlights instead of cutting power or using a dark intercept.
x
Forgetting hiding spots exist specifically so you can drop out inside a lit house.
x
Burning Reality Tear or similar overrides as a crutch every time instead of learning legal exits. Those have long cooldowns.
