Halloween The Game Convince Haddonfield NPCs Guide
Get Haddonfield residents to believe Myers is real, then give the right command (hide, call police, go to exit) so they survive. Skill-check tips, VIP priority, and mistakes to avoid.
Get Haddonfield residents to believe Myers is real, then give the right order so they actually live long enough to score. Most matches are lost here, not at the exit. Special targets (the 3 marked VIPs) are worth more than random neighbors. Treat them first. Regular NPCs are for phones, bodies, and later escort.
1 Prep the house before you talk
-
1
Lock the door behind you.
Players keep getting jumped mid-conversation.
-
2
Turn on every light and lamp in the room.
Lights block Shape Jump through that door/window and buy you the skill-check window.
-
3
Talk first, loot second.
Standing in a house with a gun while the rest of town dies is the most common early-game throw. NPCs live in houses, shops, and garages. Burst in and start the conversation immediately.
2 Pass the convince minigame
-
1
Convincing is a short skill-check/QTE conversation, not a cutscene.
Hit the prompts. Success unlocks commands: hide / follow / call police / go to an open escape. Fail and they tell you to leave. Come back later or send a teammate with a better Personality stat.
-
2
Practice the QTE.
Players report the QTE is small and fast. Practice it.
-
3
Use Personality to your advantage.
Personality on your civilian helps NPC talk and police calls. If your squad has a high-Personality character, they should take the first pass on stubborn residents.
3 The command that actually matters
After they believe you, pick one order. Do not default to Follow.
-
1
Special/VIP NPC: Hide.
Followers walk into the street and die. Hidden VIPs often survive until an exit is open. Glow on the map disappears after Hide, remember the house.
-
2
Normal NPC (early): Call police.
You can call yourself, but that is another minigame with a fail cooldown. Offload it. Police pressure Myers and can help down/detain him later. Use different phones.
-
3
Anyone, once an exit is open: Go to that exit.
Capacity is limited (cellars/gates/cars ~4). Do not dump 8 people on one hatch.
-
4
Follow: Only if you are escorting to a known open exit right now, or you need a body with a household weapon as a buffer.
Followers lock you out, wander, and get run over. Community consensus: Follow is the trap option.
4 After they are convinced
-
1
Track map glow.
Unconvinced/active residents glow blue or yellow. Hide removes the glow. Ping the house or remember the address.
-
2
Do not babysit one house.
Split: one player wrangles NPCs, others crack cellars/gates/cars.
-
3
If Myers is on you: break line of sight, run lights, lock a door and leave through another.
Do not drag a follower into that chase.
Common Mistakes
- Follow as default. They lock the door behind you, stand in yards, or wander off.
- Talking in the dark/unlocked house. Myers Shape Jumps in mid-QTE.
- Calling police yourself first when a convinced NPC can do it. Wastes your time on a second minigame with a fail cooldown.
- Hiding everyone then forgetting them. Late-game players spend minutes hunting silent hiders. Note the house.
- Rushing your own escape before specials are secured. Score is town + you, not just you.
- Expecting police to peel Myers off a grab. Cops often shoot instead of helping.
