WoW Forever: Epic Pack Beta Client Missing in Battle.net
The Skyborne Epic Pack shows as purchased on your Battle.net account, but World of Warcraft: Forever never appears in the Game Version dropdown - or appears with a greyed-out Install button. Access is an account flag, and the launcher often fails to show the client even when the flag is present.
The situation: digital Epic and Collection buyers get no email code - access is an account flag. A greyed-out Forever entry listing an install date of November 4 instead of September 17 means the account does not have beta; no command creates access that is not there.
1Confirm You Actually Have the Entitlement
-
1
Check the order on the account you play on
Only the Skyborne Epic Pack ($59.99) and the Warcraft Forever Collection include beta. The $29.99 Skyborne Heroic Pack does not - beta-day threads are full of Heroic buyers who assumed the name meant access.
-
2
Do not wait for a beta key email
Digital Epic Pack buyers report no code at all - the account is flagged in the launcher. Email codes are for the physical Collector's Edition, and Invite-A-Friend codes are launch invites for November, not beta keys.
-
3
If the pack was a gift, check for a missing flag
Several reports say the recipient's account never got the beta flag even after claiming the gift and reinstalling the launcher. Support replies in those threads say they cannot grant beta access - buying a second pack on the wrong login will not move the flag.
2Force the Missing Client to Install
-
1
Fully quit Battle.net
Closing the window is not enough - end Battle.net and Agent.exe in Task Manager so the tray icon is gone. Some players only saw Install become selectable after a full quit and reopen, or after flipping the app's beta channel in settings and letting it restart.
-
2
Press Win+R and paste this, including the quotes"C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net\Battle.net.exe" --game=wow_classic_beta --install
If Battle.net is not in that folder, use the real path to Battle.net.exe. In PowerShell, prefix the same line with
&. Use straight quotes - smart quotes break the paste. -
3
The launcher should open on the Forever installer
The screen says Forever, not old Classic beta. Downloads were ~15 GB when sharing files with an existing WoW folder, ~67 GB fresh. Point it at your existing World of Warcraft directory for the smaller download.
-
4
Steam Deck variant
With Battle.net added as a non-Steam game, put
"--game=wow_classic_beta --install"in launch options, install, then remove the option so later launches do not keep forcing the installer. -
5
Play does nothing but files exist?
Launch
WowB.exedirectly fromWorld of Warcraft\_classic_beta_\.
3Decision Points
| Situation | What it means |
|---|---|
| Receipt says Heroic Pack | Stop. No restart or command adds beta - Heroic does not include it. |
| Only opted in via promo email, no purchase | A promo email is not an invite. Grey Forever button = no access. |
| Pack bought on a different login or second WoW license | The flag sits on the Battle.net account that paid. Check which account is logged in; Americas region is what purchasers used when the client appeared. |
| No active subscription | Beta does not need game time. The Epic Pack's 30 days credit at launch, not during beta. |
| Command still will not open an installer | If the account is correctly flagged, remaining reports are account-side lag - not a local file problem. |
Mistakes That Waste Time
- Hunting an email code for a digital Epic Pack. There is not one.
- Treating Invite-A-Friend codes as beta keys. They are November launch invites.
- Only closing the Battle.net window. The client stays missing until Battle.net and Agent.exe are fully ended.
- Leaving smart quotes in the Win+R line. Use straight quotes.
- Reinstalling the whole launcher first. Reinstalls did not attach the flag - the command or a later account refresh did.
- Buying another pack while a gifted Epic Pack is unflagged. Support threads say they cannot add the beta.
