The Great Outdoors - WoW Forever Camping Quest
The level-6 camping tutorial every race gets near its second town. It asks you to sit by a campfire and wait for the Boosted Rest buff - and it's the quest half the server is stuck on.
TL;DR: Accept the quest first, stand next to the quest giver's Basic Campfire, type /sit in chat, and stay seated for about a minute until the Boosted Rest buff appears. If the buff never comes, type /sit again while still sitting, or relog and sit again.
Objectives
Sit near the quest giver's Basic Campfire by typing /sit in the chat window, and wait until you receive the Boosted Rest buff.
Sit near the campfire
The typed emote /sit registers reliably - pressing the X key to sit did not count for some players during beta.
Gain the Boosted Rest buff
A timer ticks down from ~59 seconds once you're seated close enough (you'll see a Welcoming Campfire buff first). Wait for Boosted Rest before standing.
Hand in and unlock Camping
Completing it unlocks Camping 101: Cooking plus a Camping 101 follow-up for each profession you know - the start of the whole camping system.
Step by step
- 1Accept the quest before sitting
Take The Great Outdoors from the adventurer NPC first. Players who got the buff before accepting couldn't trigger it again afterward.
- 2Stand next to their Basic Campfire
The fire is right beside the quest giver. When you're close enough you'll pick up a Welcoming Campfire buff - that's your signal you're in the right spot.
- 3Type /sit in chat
Use the typed emote, not the X keybind. The sit objective has its own check, then the buff timer starts.
- 4Stay seated about a minute
Wait for Boosted Rest to appear and both objectives to complete, then turn in at the same NPC for 405 XP and the Camping 101 follow-ups.
If Boosted Rest won't trigger
/sit while already sitting
A reported fix: type /sit a second time while still seated. The buff check re-fires and completes.
Wrong fire
You must sit at your quest giver's Basic Campfire - sitting at another player's or a city fire does nothing.
Relog and retry
If nothing procs, log out and back in, then sit again. During beta a stale quest state was the usual culprit.
Accepted it mid-buff
If you picked up Welcoming/Boosted Rest before accepting, drop the quest and retake it, then sit fresh.
