Lunar Reaction Teams Guide

Lunar reactions (Crystallize, Charged, Bloom) are the dominant meta for Abyss and Stygian Odyssey. You need at least two Nod-Krai characters plus consistent Hydro application to trigger them. Here is how to pick one, build it, and clear content without wasting pulls.

How Lunar Reactions Work

Core Requirement

Lunar reactions replace standard Elemental reactions when a Nod-Krai (Moon Wheel) character is on the team. You need at least two Nod-Krai units (a dedicated DPS + enabler like Aino or Columbina) plus consistent Hydro application. Without this, teams feel weak or clunky. Columbina is the universal enabler who turns reactions Lunar and provides extra Dews and stacks, but you can build functional teams without her.

Build Steps

Build your entry enabler first
Get Aino from Nod-Krai quests as your budget Hydro applicator and support. Level her to 80/90, give Favonius or ER weapons, and focus on support stats (ER, EM, Healing). This unlocks basic Lunar functionality for any DPS.

Choose and commit to ONE reaction type
Do not spread pulls across all three reactions. Pick one based on your roster and playstyle (see Section 3 below). Committing to one lets you vertically invest in 1-2 key 5-star characters for that team.

Farm artifacts and weapons in priority order
DPS: Night of the Sky's Unveiling set (Lunar-specific). Prioritize Crit/ATK/DEF/EM as needed per character. Supports: Silken Moon for Aino, standard VV/Emblem for others. Weapons: Signature if possible, craftables or Favonius for F2P. Level talents (normals for carries, skills and bursts for supports).

Learn the rotation: Hydro, then Lunar trigger, then maintain
Apply Hydro first, trigger Lunar with Nod-Krai attacks, then maintain stacks, Dews, and constructs. Test in domains before taking teams to Abyss. Adjust for interrupt resistance: shields and healing are key for Zibai and Nefer who get interrupted easily.

Three Lunar Reaction Teams

Crystallize Zibai + Linnea Easiest / Best F2P
Team: Zibai / Linnea / Xingqiu or Yelan (Hydro) / Illuga or Gorou or Zhongli
Zibai is a DEF-scaling hypercarry who is naturally tanky. Linnea provides healing, EM, and frontloaded damage. Use skills then burst rotation; constructs and turrets do off-field damage. High QoL with built-in sustain, less dependent on Columbina, and works well with 3-star weapons. Best starting point for most players.
Charged Flins + Ineffa Balanced
Team: Flins / Ineffa / Sucrose (VV + EM) / Fischl or Aino
Electro-Hydro focus with thunderclouds for consistent damage. Battery with Fischl for energy generation. Balanced playstyle between sustain and combo execution. Good option if you have existing Electro characters built.
Bloom Nefer + Lauma Highest Ceiling / Hardest
Team: Nefer / Lauma / Furina or Baizhu / Sucrose
Highest damage ceiling but clunkiest to pilot. Needs strong Hydro (Furina or Kokomi preferred over Aino), dash cancels for Nefer, and Dew and stack management. Sustain issues without C1s or Columbina. Fun for players who enjoy combo-heavy playstyles. Best for high-investment accounts.

Have Columbina?
Yes: Any team shines, especially Bloom. Columbina turns reactions Lunar and provides extra Dews and stacks. No: Prioritize Crystallize (Zibai/Linnea) for ease and independence.
What is your investment level?
Low (F2P / light spender): Crystallize is tankier, more flexible, and works with budget weapons. High (whale): Bloom offers the highest damage ceiling for vertical investment.
Which reaction fits your existing roster?
Geo fans: Crystallize. Existing Dendro/Hydro: Bloom. Electro: Charged. Match the reaction to characters you already have built to save farming time.
What playstyle do you prefer?
Laid-back / sustain: Crystallize with its built-in healing and tankiness. Fast / combo-heavy: Bloom with dash cancels and stack management. Balanced: Charged for consistent damage without extreme execution demands.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

! Spreading pulls across all three reactions. This leaves you with three weak teams instead of one strong one. Commit to one reaction type and vertically invest.
! Using only one Nod-Krai character. A single Nod-Krai unit cannot fully trigger Lunar reactions. You need at least two for the mechanic to function properly.
! Poor Hydro application. Aino alone is often insufficient for Bloom. Use Xingqiu, Yelan, or Furina for consistent Hydro uptime, especially for Bloom and Charged teams.
! Ignoring sustain and interrupt resistance. Zibai and Nefer get interrupted easily without shields or heals. Bring a shielder (Zhongli) or strong healer (Linnea, Baizhu) to maintain DPS uptime.
! Neglecting the Lunar artifact set. Night of the Sky's Unveiling is the dedicated Lunar set and significantly boosts reaction damage. Farm it first before optimizing substats.
