Genshin Impact 5.7 Stygian Onslaught Team Comps
Boss-specific team compositions for Stygian Onslaught Fearless and Dire difficulties. Includes F2P alternatives, rotation tips, and key decision points for each boss encounter.
What Is Stygian Onslaught
Stygian Onslaught is the new permanent endgame mode in Genshin Impact 5.7. Bosses have high HP pools (around 17M for Hydro Tulpa), tough mechanics, and tight DPS checks across multiple difficulty tiers. Players need boss-specific team comps rather than one universal team.
Build around strong reactions, bring boss-specific elemental counters, and swap teams per boss. One-team-fits-all does not work here. Prioritize Pyro carries for vape/melt/overload on most bosses.
Preparation Steps
-
Level and Gear Your Main DPS
Get your main DPS to 90/90 with decent artifacts (focus EM/ATK/Crit for reaction teams). Supports should be at 80/80+ with 4-piece sets for buffs and resistance shred. Bennett is widely used for healing plus ATK buff in almost every team.
-
Test on Lower Difficulties First
Learn boss mechanics on lower difficulty tiers before pushing Fearless or Dire. Each boss has specific mechanics that punish unprepared teams. Practice rotations and timing before committing to higher difficulty.
-
Build Boss-Specific Teams
Do not force one team for all bosses. Each encounter has different elemental requirements and mechanics. Swap per boss based on the recommendations below.
Boss-Specific Team Comps
Hydro Tulpa (Turbulent Vortex)
Vape/melt focus. Kill one Half-Tulpa at the right timing to interrupt absorption. Citlali freezes and shatters minis. Burst Pyro DPS into adds first, then main boss.
Overload team shreds adds effectively. Strong for co-op or solo. Avoid pure Hydro teams against Tulpa.
Lava Dragon Statue (Blazing Flame)
Keep Pyro uptime high to counter RES. If no Natlan DPS, use Pyro Traveler or a built Xiangling. Shred RES first, then deal sustained Pyro damage during vulnerable phases.
Avoid Hydro against Lava Dragon. Hydro raises its RES significantly and makes the fight much harder.
Secret Source Automaton (Overseer)
Needs consistent Cryo pressure to bypass defenses. Apply Cryo steadily and use buffs during NA strings. If you have Furina, use her for massive buffs. Without Furina, Candace or Dahlia work decently.

Key Decision Points
-
Have newest Natlan units (Mavuika, Xilonen, Citlali)?
Prioritize them for easiest clears. Low-cost records consistently feature Natlan characters. They excel at vape, melt, and burning comps across multiple bosses.
-
F2P or no limited 5-star characters?
Focus on 4-star cores: Xiangling, Fischl, Bennett, Chevreuse, plus Pyro Traveler. Fearless difficulty is doable with well-built 4-star teams. Dire requires more optimization and better artifacts.
-
Co-op or solo?
Overload teams shine in co-op. Chevreuse-based overload comps with Arlecchino, Fischl, and Xiangling handle adds well and are forgiving in multiplayer.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Poor rotation timing. Not bursting adds fast enough causes them to heal the boss or trigger mechanics.
- Using unbuilt Fischl or forgetting artifact sets. Supports need proper investment too.
- One-team-fits-all mindset. Boss mechanics punish teams that are not element-specific.
- Ignoring energy needs. Use Favonius weapons or battery supports to ensure bursts are ready when needed.
- Bringing Hydro against Lava Dragon. This raises its RES and makes the fight significantly harder.
