Destiny 2 Still Hunt Frostpulse PvP Build
Chain supers rapidly in Crucible and Trials with Still Hunt + Frostpulse Shadebinder Warlock. Freeze enemies, land headshots, generate orbs, and get multiple supers per match.
How This Build Works
The core loop: use Frostpulse (Shadebinder aspect) to freeze enemies near your rift, then land Still Hunt headshots on frozen targets. Each freeze-plus-headshot generates 3 orbs of power (4 every 3rd kill), charging Still Hunt to 50% per headshot. With super mods stacked, you can get your first super before the score hits 45, and chain 3 supers in roughly 90 seconds.
Core Loadout
Orb Generation Setup
This is the heart of the build. The goal: freeze with Frostpulse, headshot with Still Hunt, generate 3 orbs per kill (4 every 3rd). This charges Still Hunt to 50% with one headshot.
- Reaper Class item mod. Melee kill after class ability spawns orbs of power.
- Whisper of Bonds Fragment. Defeating frozen targets spawns orbs of power. Costs -10 super energy.
- Crystocrene 2-piece Armor set bonus: Resupply (weapon progress + orb after combat). 4-piece gives Frost Armor.
- Nezarec's Nightmare 2-piece Bad Dreams: final blows on debuffed targets have orb spawn chance. Dream-Devourer gives Devour on finishers.
Super Generation Mods and Stats
- Distribution x2 Class ability used near targets reduces all cooldowns.
- Dynamo x2 Class ability used near targets reduces super cooldown.
- Timelost Magazine Origin trait on weapons. Final blows grant bonus super energy when super is active. Extra bonus on primary kills.
- Super Stat Target 100 super stat if possible. The Stag provides rift recovery for sustained uptime.
Play Loop
-
Play Normally for Primary Kills
Use your primary weapon for normal engagements. Timelost Magazine rewards consistent kills with bonus super energy. Do not tunnel vision on the combo.
-
Bait with Frostpulse
Place rifts near common engagement zones: corner peeks, shotgun rush lanes, radar pings. Frostpulse sends a freezing shockwave from the rift, freezing nearby enemies. Use it aggressively but smartly as your close-range tool.
-
Headshot Frozen Targets with Still Hunt
Once an enemy is frozen, immediately land a Still Hunt headshot. This generates 3 orbs (4 every 3rd kill) and charges Still Hunt to 50% per headshot.
-
Manage Orb Pickup
Do not pick up orbs while Still Hunt is already charged. This wastes orb energy. Let orbs sit until you need them for the next super cycle.
-
Pop Still Hunt and Chain
After charging via headshots, activate Still Hunt. Chain kills during the super for even faster subsequent supers. With this setup, you can get 3 supers in roughly 90 seconds.
Key Decision Points
-
Frostpulse timing: Use aggressively but as bait, not random casts. Set up rifts at corner peeks, shotgun rush lanes, and radar pings. It is your shotgun replacement for close-range freezes.
-
Armor pieces: Prioritize the 2+2 set bonuses (Crystocrene + Nezarec's Nightmare) over perfect stats if needed for the orb generation loop.
-
When to pop Still Hunt: After charging via headshots. Chain into more kills for faster subsequent supers. Do not hold it too long.
-
Exotic helmet: The Stag over alternatives for rift synergy and survivability in PvP. Rift uptime is essential for the entire loop.
Common Mistakes
- Picking up orbs while Still Hunt is already charged, wasting orb energy entirely.
- Poor Frostpulse baiting: random casts instead of using radar and corner manipulation to set up freezes.
- Ignoring rift uptime. The Stag plus Distribution and Dynamo mods fix this, but only if you actively use your class ability.
- Over-focusing on the super combo and ignoring primary play. Timelost Magazine rewards consistent primary kills with bonus super energy.
