Moon Public Events Tier 5 Weapon Farming
When the Moon is the active Distortion destination, Heroic public events and Distortion Breaches drop guaranteed Tier 5 Moon weapons. Here is the exact loop to chain them for the full hour.
Open the Destinations map and look for the Moon with a red outline or distortion marking. Hover to see remaining time (it ends on the hour). If it is not the Moon, wait or farm another destination's weapons instead. Distortion lasts one hour per destination.
Fast-travel to a landing zone near active events (icons appear on the map once announced, usually with a 5-minute warning). Common Moon events include Warsat Down, Arsenal Walker, Ether Resupply, Taken Blight, and Altars of Sorrow. Head straight to the event marker.
This is the key for Tier 5. During Distortion: Normal PE gives guaranteed Tier 4, Heroic PE gives guaranteed Tier 5 Moon destination weapons and armor. One knowledgeable player can force most Heroic triggers solo.

About a minute after any PE completion, a Distortion Breach (wave-based event) starts in the area. Clear 9 waves of tougher distorted enemies. At waves 3 and 6, destroy the three nearby corruption clusters (waypoints appear). At wave 9, kill the boss.
Open the chest for a Tier 5 Distortion weapon + Tier 5 Moon armor. You also get a short "Strange Multiplier" buff that doubles Strange Matter from caches, materials, and events. Loot nearby chests and Helium Coils while it lasts.
Chain public events across the Moon. After each PE + Breach, move to the next announced event. Collect Strange Matter along the way from chests, nodes, and events. At 50 Strange Matter it becomes a Strange Signal. Use it on a Distorted destination for an extra Tier 5 Distortion weapon boss chest. You can bank the Signal and use it later on any Distorted planet.

Only farm this way if yes. Without Distortion you get Tier 3-4 base drops. Check the map before committing.
Always push Heroic. The Tier 5 guarantee only applies to Heroic completions during Distortion. One player can force most triggers.
Always stay. The Breach is fast extra Tier 5 loot. Leaving after the PE chest wastes the follow-up wave event.
Group is faster for Heroic triggers and Breach waves, but solo works fine if you know the mechanics. Matchmaking fills naturally on popular destinations.
- Farming when Distortion is not active on the Moon. You only get Tier 3-4 base drops without the Distortion multiplier.
- Leaving after the normal PE chest instead of waiting for and doing the Breach. The Breach is free Tier 5 loot.
- Ignoring Heroic triggers because random players are rushing the boss. Call it out or do the steps yourself.
- Not checking the map timer and getting cut off mid-farm when Distortion rotates to another destination.
- Skipping nearby caches and materials during the Strange Multiplier window. Free Strange Matter adds up to extra Signal chests.
