Deadlock Viper (Vyper) Build Items and Skill Order
Viper (Vyper) build items and skill order in Deadlock - max Venom vs max Slither fork, hybrid vs gun spike, Burst Fire as the core item, exact shop order, and the mistakes that waste souls.
Core goal: Stay on target while sliding, burst isolated or low-HP enemies with gun plus Lethal Venom, and not get deleted when you commit. Community treats Viper as a slide-and-shoot assassin: mobility and fire rate first, then either an early spirit spike or a gun spike, not a generic full tank carry.
The Recurring Fork: Max Venom vs Max Slither
If you want burst, execute, and farm. Poke with daggers, Venom low-HP targets, jungle and clear faster.
If you want a more active, tankier slide playstyle. Extra slide distance, stamina, and the T3 slide barrier.
1Skill and AP Order
Slither is on from level 1.
- 1Unlock Screwjab Dagger, then Lethal Venom.
- 2Put first AP into Venom, first AP into Slither.
- 3Then either Venom 2 to Venom 5, then Slither 2 or 5, or Slither 2 to Slither 5 if you want barrier plus slide first.
- 4Take Petrifying Bola when it unlocks.
- 5Finish Dagger last (1 to 2 to 5) unless you are heavily imbue-dagger or QSR focused.
2Item Steps in Order
- 1Close Quarters and Rapid Rounds (or Extra Spirit plus Mystic Burst if spirit-lane path).
- 2Extra Spirit if you want Venom or dagger trades to hurt.
- 3Skip stacking extra stamina early. Slither already gives a huge stamina pool.
- 1Hybrid spike (around 4.8k spirit-side): Improved Spirit plus Quicksilver Reload (imbue Dagger or Venom) plus Bullet Resist Shredder.
This is the nuke with 2 plus still shoot path.
- 2Gun spike: go straight at Burst Fire.
Multiple threads call Burst Fire the Viper item: fire rate plus slide distance in one slot, better than buying Fleetfoot plus Swift Striker separately for the same money.
- 1Burst Fire if you don't have it yet.
- 2Quicksilver Reload if you kept dagger or venom imbues.
Drop Active Reload or QSR, not both, depending on gun vs hybrid.
- 3Tesla Bullets or Capacitor for farm plus consistent gun.
- 4Bullet Lifesteal, then Lucky Shot or Point Blank when you can afford the spike.
- 5Stamina Mastery over Enduring Speed for many players: extra dash distance on an already huge stamina pool.
- 6Hybrid finishers: Mercurial Magnum (called a huge power spike, move it earlier if you stayed hybrid).
- 1Sustain: Leech (often preferred over Vampiric Burst).
- 2Vs gun teams: Escalating Resilience (situational, not core).
- 3Vs CC: Unstoppable, Debuff Remover, or Counterspell.
- 4Vs tanks: Armor Piercing or resist shred.
- 5Boundless Spirit if you still want Venom plus move speed scaling.
Key Decisions
Common Mistakes
- Buying Fleetfoot and Swift Striker and Burst Fire as if they stack as three separate musts. Burst Fire first.
- Maxing the wrong ability for the game. Venom when you needed barrier, or Slither when you needed executes.
- Armor Piercing before Split Shot in older patches. Order bugs were a thing. Don't assume APR first is always correct.
- Extra Stamina plus Stamina Mastery as core every game.
- Titanic Mag as a more ammo solution when Lucky Shot or QSR already cover it.
- Treating Escalating Resilience as core instead of a gun-matchup buy.
- Building full spirit into late game and staying in the middle of 6-man fights.
