Core problem: Weekend 2 of the MW4 beta still puts a lot of players into spawn-die loops and "every lobby is a sweat lobby," while the only real in-game lever for looser games (Open matchmaking) is easy to miss. Infinity Ward already shipped an early spawn pass on Aug 25 for every mode except Hardpoint. Hardpoint changes were promised for this weekend and players still report Transit 213 HP as the worst offender.

1Pick the Right Playlist First

There is no SBMM off switch. Community consensus and Activision's own beta messaging: two systems run in parallel.

Warming up or leveling guns
Open Moshpit
Casual session, mixed skill, better chance of staying in a lobby.
Want "even" games
Quick Play
Tighter skill matching. Do not mind sweat.
Least spawn chaos
Skip 6v6 Hardpoint
Use Search and Destroy, 3v3 Gunfight on Kill Block, or Ground War (open this weekend).
Chill solo session
Solo Open Moshpit
Stacked parties in Quick Play pull sweat lobbies. Solo Open is the chill path.

2Survive the Spawn System That Is Live Right Now

What players are describing this weekend: you still spawn looking at an enemy or into nade or Semtex splash. Hardpoint on Transit 213 is the map and mode combo called out by Infinity Ward themselves as "tight spawns." After the Aug 25 hotfix, some players say TDM, Dom, and KC "feel way better," others still say small maps (Kill Block, Shipment-style flow) are spawn-die meat grinders.

3Connection Choices That Change What Lobby You Get

Players (especially outside the US) report Classic search hiding ping and dumping them on farther regions. You cannot force a datacenter, but you can stop making search worse.

Common Mistakes

Right now: Open Moshpit first, skip Transit 213 Hardpoint if the first lives are spawn deaths, leave spawn sideways not forward, wired plus Open NAT. That is what players who are still playing this weekend are actually doing while IW iterates.
