Core problem: In the MW4 beta, slides keep momentum and can be chained or cancelled with almost no cooldown, so players enter fights already moving fast and become hard to track. Weekend 2 already shortened slides (minus 10% distance, minus 9% speed) and added a longer slide-to-jump delay. You still need to choose: master the new slide tools or play against people who spam them.

1Fix Settings First (Before You Drop In)

These are the settings movement players keep repeating so slides actually fire when you tap them.

If you came from MW19 muscle memory: do not double-tap slide unless you want the long supine slide. One tap plus jump = normal slide cancel. Double tap = long slide onto your back.

2Two Slides You Actually Use, and When

Normal slide cancel (the spam people hate)
Sprint, tap slide once, ADS, jump
Sprint → tap slide → ADS → jump
Short cancel to stop on a headglitch. Longer cancel to change direction mid-fight and break aim. ADS in the middle so the gun is already up when you stand. After the patch you cannot jump out as instantly as Weekend 1, wait a beat or you just hop in place.
Supine / long slide (double-tap slide)
Sprint, double-tap crouch/slide
Sprint → double-tap crouch/slide
You go farther and end on your back (prone, feet forward). Fire delay after this is noticeably longer than a normal cancel. Start it before you leave cover so the gun is up by the time they see you. You can still cancel it with jump, but you get extra weapon sway coming off your back. Use it to slide under windows or take a weird low angle, not as your default peek.
Jump-shot instead of another slide
Jump while ADS
ADS → jump
Less sway than BO6/BO7, gun stays up, and you leave cover at a different height. You only get one or two hops, spam jump and it feels clunky. Keep the left stick pointed the way you want to travel or the hop dies. Many players now prefer this over a third slide because tracking a jumper is easier than tracking a sliding camera break.

3Key Decision: Blood Rush or Not

Blood Rush (Perk 3, unlocked from the start)
Tac Sprint is off by default. Blood Rush gives you Tac Sprint back, longer duration, faster crouch, and stamina refill on kills. The perk Tac Sprint is 4% slower than Weekend 1 but sprint-to-fire now matches normal sprint.
Slides themselves were nerfed globally, so even with Blood Rush the map does not feel like Weekend 1.

Settings, one-tap cancel vs double-tap supine, when the fire delay kills you, and jump-shot as the cleaner challenge. Watch the first 4 minutes if you only have time for one clip.
