Minecraft Running Inside Elden Ring
On September 29, 2026, modder Tobyn Jacobs posted footage of the entire game of Minecraft running inside Elden Ring as a mod — Steve swinging at Lands Between enemies under a real hotbar, hunger bar and armor bar. Here is what is actually known, and what isn't.
Download status: there is no public build, no repository and no release date. Jacobs says the project runs on Mac and a Windows port would be needed before a release. Any site offering a "Minecraft Elden Ring mod download" right now is not distributing his work.
What the footage shows
This goes well past a character skin — per Jacobs' own description and what is visible in the clips.
Steve in the Lands Between
Minecraft's Steve fights Elden Ring enemies with Minecraft-style swings, inside the actual Elden Ring world.
Real Minecraft UI
The hotbar, hunger meter and armor bar all render on screen — survival systems, not just visuals.
All ~1,600 items
Jacobs claims the complete Minecraft item set made the trip, not a subset.
Working redstone + Creative
Redstone logic reportedly functions, and Creative Mode is accessible — implying a genuine Minecraft simulation underneath.
How a game inside a game even works
Neither developer published the technique, but the modding community has a working theory for this wave of mashups.
| Approach | What it means |
|---|---|
| Passthrough modding | Both games run side by side while a mod layer exchanges data — collisions, visuals, entities. Each engine keeps doing what it already does. |
| Not a rebuilt port | Nobody rewrote Minecraft inside Elden Ring's engine — that would be a multi-year project, not a weeks-long demo. |
| Part of a trend | Similar "game inside game" clips from other modders spread on X the same weeks — recompilation tools and shared source projects make old games easier to pull apart. |
Fake downloads are already circulating
Search interest outran the project itself, and copycat "Minecraft in Elden Ring" repos appeared within days.
- 1Any download today is not his
No repository has been published under Jacobs' name. Repos, zip files and "installers" using the clip's name are opportunistic at best.
- 2Never run unsigned mod executables
Viral mod names are a classic malware lure. A real release would come through the creator's own accounts, with the community dissecting it on day one.
- 3The real thing will be obvious
When an actual build ships it will be the biggest story in modding that week — you won't need a sketchy mirror to find it.
