Faith Holy Build Guide - The Jesus Run
How to build and play a full Faith/Holy character from start to endgame - stat priorities, weapons, incantations, armor, and how to handle holy-resistant bosses without breaking the roleplay.
Step-by-Step Progression
Character Creation
Start as Prophet (best Faith starting class - saves many early levels). If you want the challenge from scratch, Wretch works but costs level efficiency.
For the Jesus look: male character, long brown/gray hair, beard, balanced facial features. Many players share face-slider presets in community forums you can screenshot and recreate.
First Priority: Faith 20-25 + Vigor 20-25
Rush Faith to at least 20-25 to unlock usable incantations. Vigor 20-25 so you don't die to one hit.
- Seal: Erdtree Seal (best early scaling) - grab from Fringefolk Hero's Grave via Limgrave Evergaol entrance, or buy basic finger seals to start
- Weapons (pick one): Cipher Pata (pure Faith holy fist, no STR/DEX needed - very thematic), Coded Sword (holy beam from Roundtable Hold), or Cross Naginata with Sacred affinity for a polearm crusader feel
- Incantations: Heal, Blessing's Boon (buff), Golden Vow (damage/defense buff), Discus of Light (the "Jesus DVD throw" - very popular in community for the meme)
- Armor: Tree Sentinel set for the holy crusader look, or Commoner's Headband altered for the headband-over-long-hair aesthetic
Scale Faith to 40-50, add Vigor 30-40
Now you unlock the build's real strength. Upgrade your seal to match your Faith growth.
- Key weapon: Golden Order Greatsword (holy-themed, Faith/INT hybrid scaling, great melee) - or upgrade to Sacred-infused greatswords/hammers
- Add: Erdtree Greatshield for the parry + holy beam combo with Discus of Light
- New incantations: Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike (for holy-resistant enemies), Pest Threads, Lightning Spear. Keep Golden Vow + Flame Grant Me Strength as your pre-fight buff stack
- Playstyle: Buff before every fight, throw Discus of Light at range, heal through damage, bonk with sacred weapon in melee
Faith 60-80, Vigor 50+
Endgame brings the most powerful Faith tools - and the most holy-resistant enemies.
- Sacred Relic Sword: The community "Jesus sword" - waves of holy energy from a single swing, devastating on crowds. Requires Elden Remembrance (NG endgame unlock)
- Alternative: Stick with Cipher Pata + Coded Sword for a pure no-stats Faith approach
- Talismans: Flock's Canvas Talisman, Godfrey Icon (charged/jump attacks), Sacred Scorpion Charm (holy damage boost), Two Fingers Heirloom (Faith +5)
- For holy-resistant bosses: Swap to Blasphemous Blade (fire + Faith scaling, doesn't break the build's spirit) or lean on lightning incantations - Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike carries here
Stat Priority by Phase
| Phase | Faith | Vigor | Mind | Other |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Early (1-50) | 20-25 | 20-25 | 15-20 | Endurance 15+ |
| Mid (50-100) | 40-50 | 30-40 | 20-25 | Endurance 20+ |
| Late (100+) | 60-80 | 50+ | 25-30 | Hybrid as needed |
Key Decision Points
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Dumping everything into Faith before getting Vigor to 20 - you die in one hit and lose all runes
- Expecting pure holy to work on every endgame boss - prepare a swap weapon before Maliketh
- Skipping the drip - Tree Sentinel set + headband is core to the experience, players consider this non-optional
- Starting as Wretch without planning your stat route - you'll spend too many levels catching up to Prophet
- Not using Golden Vow + Flame Grant Me Strength before boss fights - Faith builds live and die by their buff rotation
- Relying on healing mid-fight as a crutch - buff before the fight, not during
