Nightfarers Tier List - SS to C
No Nightfarer is unplayable. Tier differences narrow significantly with good relics and good play. Ratings assume random queue conditions and general expedition content.
SS
Ironeye
Ranged
Eagle Eye boosts team item discovery, consistent ranged damage from safety, and Mark debuff amplifies the whole team's damage. Excellent in both solo and randoms without needing specific relics.
S
Raider
Tank
Retaliate counters cut incoming damage and trigger headbutt staggers, while massive HP and Totem Stela provide reliable frontline presence for the whole team.
Undertaker
Hybrid (DLC)
Confluence ult synergy with teammate ults, Trance for mobility, and Loathsome Hex for big damage. Post-DLC one of the strongest co-op carries with self-sufficient playstyle.
A
Wylder
Melee
Sixth Sense cheat-death passive plus Claw Shot grapple mobility makes Wylder the most beginner-friendly option that still performs well at high depths.
Executor
Melee
Parry-into-stagger loop via Suncatcher and Tenacity rewards skill with very high DPS; Beast ult provides healing. High ceiling, punishing to master.
Duchess
Melee
Magnificent Pose enables dodge-chain combos and Restage positioning control. High personal DPS with great team synergy when teammates can draw aggro.
B
Guardian
Tank/Support
Wings of Salvation ult provides team revive and healing, and Steel Guard gives strong damage resistance; limited by lower personal damage output compared to other frontliners.
Recluse
Caster
Magic Cocktail affinity mixing and Soulblood Song enable monster DPS with the right spell drops, but heavily RNG-dependent and squishy in random queues.
C
Revenant
Support
Immortal March ult team immortality is powerful, but very low personal damage and HP make Revenant a liability in random queues without coordinated teammates.
Scholar
Support (DLC)
Bagcraft item advantages and Analyze buffs/debuffs are strong in coordinated teams but require too much setup time to be reliable for solo or random queue situations.
Tier context matters. Recluse and Scholar jump to S/A in pre-made coordinated groups. Revenant with a premade that can carry aggro becomes genuinely strong. These ratings target the most common scenario: random queue trio.
Team compositions
Top 3 recommended team setups
Composition 1
Nuclear / Damage
Wylder + Ironeye + Duchess
High mobility across all three roles, ranged and melee damage synergy, and status/positioning burst. Strong against Tricephalos, Darkdrift Knight, and most mobile Nightlords.
Composition 2
Behemoth / Tank
Raider + Executor + Guardian
Frontline stagger from Raider, parry damage from Executor, and team revive from Guardian. Best for aggressive Nightlords and for carrying randoms through difficult depths.
Composition 3
Balanced / Sustained
Ironeye + Raider + Guardian
Loot discovery from Ironeye, frontline from Raider, and team healing/revive from Guardian. Most reliable setup for sustained expedition runs and consistent depth 4-5 clears.
Play tips
Key mistakes to avoid
X
Playing too cautiously. Expeditions reward aggressive play - more kills means faster leveling, more loot, and better relic drops for the Nightlord fight.
X
Wasting ults at bad moments. Raider's art on cramped bosses blocks team vision. Guardian's ult timed when no one needs it. Use ultimates for defined windows: boss stumble, teammate down, or heavy AoE phase.
X
Locking into one build despite bad drops. Recluse needs good spell drops, Revenant needs summon support. If your character's core item hasn't appeared by Night 2, pivot to a weapon-focused approach.
X
Treating this like Dark Souls - lone wolf style. Nightreign is built around team synergy. Ironeye's Mark only amplifies damage when teammates are hitting the same target.
