Path of Exile 2 · Patch 0.5
PoE2 Best Endgame Map Farming Build
T15+ map farming in PoE2 0.5 requires atlas setup first, then juiced tablets. The core challenge is waystone sustain and atlas point investment. This guide covers the Fortress progression order, tablet priorities, best clear-speed builds, and common atlas mistakes.

Build choices
Best builds for clear-speed farming
Map farming is 80% atlas setup and 20% build. A strong Fortress atlas with properly juiced tablets outperforms a great build on a bare atlas. Get the atlas foundation right first, then optimize the build.
Gemling Legionnaire - Arc Automation
Top - Clear Speed
Cast on Dodge or Arc totems provide near-0-button clear. Scales with +gem levels, cast speed, and AOE. Praised for lazy comfortable mapping where you focus on routing and looting rather than input-intensive play.
Scale: +gem levels · cast speed · AOE
Spirit Walker - Companion / Totem
Top - Budget Friendly
Companions and totems clear packs independently, making it one of the most budget-viable clear builds. Scales well into T15+ without heavy gear investment. Strong on SSF and trade ladder alike.
Scale: spirit count · totem placement · companion mods
Druid Bear Form
Tanky + Clear
High physical mitigation for juiced maps with dangerous mods. Slower clear than Gemling but survives 6-mod tablets that would kill glass cannon builds. Good for pushing high juice safely.
Scale: bear form level · life · physical reduction
Sorceress Puppet Master / Plants
Alternative
Plant mechanics and summons provide consistent pack clear. Slightly more input-dependent than totem builds but strong single-target for map bosses alongside solid density clear.
Scale: +gem levels · cast speed · minion count
Atlas progression
Fortress-first step-by-step
-
1Rush Fortress atlas nodes for sustainImmediately prioritize
+1 tablet mod, all Tablet nodes, all Waystone nodes, and"Irradiated tablets can now drop"in the center of the Fortress atlas tree. These four investments make T15 sustain self-sufficient. Without them, you will run out of waystones before establishing a loop. -
2Unlock Doriyani for 6-mod map safetyDoriyani in the corrupted tower gives you a
+1 reviveper map. This lets you run 6-mod tablets safely without losing the map on death. She also sells T14 waystones you can combine into T15 at the reforging bench when sustain dips. Unlock her before pushing heavy tablet juice. -
3Stay inside Fortress walls until T15 + 50-100 atlas pointsMaps run outside Fortress walls do not progress the atlas. Every map you run outside is a wasted opportunity for atlas points. Farm inside the walls exclusively until your T15 loop is stable and you have enough points to push into citadels.
-
4Juice tablets with 3-4 mods before each mapRun
3 tablets per map(4 with the atlas node). Prioritize: pack size/density, rarity, monster effectiveness, +levels (irradiated), and Shrine mods. Stack boss mods on tablet layouts for unique drops and additional currency. Alch all waystones; regal tablets when possible. -
5Complete Arbiter, then push citadelsFinish the
Arbiter of Divinityfight inside Fortress for +40 atlas points in one step. Then hunt Patriarch and Matriarch citadels (red beams visible in the fog outside walls) for additional points and unique rewards. This transition usually happens after your T15 loop is fully self-sustaining.
Tablet mechanics
Tablet mod priorities
| Mechanic | Priority | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pack size / Density | High | More packs = more currency per map and faster atlas progression. The single most impactful mod for raw farming efficiency. |
| Item Rarity / Quantity | High | Multiplies loot value across every item dropped in the map. Stack with density mods for best results. |
| +Map Levels / Irradiated | High | Irradiated tablets drop +1 tier waystones which feed the T15 sustain loop. Essential for staying at max tier without buying waystones. |
| Shrines | High (early) | Huge power boost while your gear is still developing. Shrine mods on tablets can turn borderline dangerous maps into easy clears. |
| Abyss | Medium | Consistent currency and bone drops for crafting. Strong for SSF players who need crafting materials to improve gear incrementally. |
| Ritual | Medium | Favor accumulation for unique item purchases. Strong for targeting specific uniques when the ritual pool has what you need. |
| Breach | Medium | Jewels and ring bases. Worth running when you are actively building out passive tree or need specific ring bases. |
| Delirium | Deprioritize | Often bugged or low reward relative to the added difficulty in the current patch. Avoid until reported as reliable in community feedback. |
Key decisions
SSF vs. trade and build selection
-
SSF or trade for map farming?SSF: Full Fortress grind with targeted mechanics (Abyss for crafting materials, Ritual for uniques). Slower but builds independence. Trade: Buy tablets and fragments to skip early grind, faster atlas via citadels once currency is established. Both approaches use the same Fortress-first atlas priority.
-
Which build to choose?Budget or SSF: Spirit Walker - low gear requirement, strong out of the box. Comfort-first: Gemling automation removes input pressure so you focus on atlas routing. Juiced maps with dangerous mods: Druid Bear for survivability. Prioritize clear speed over bossing damage for pure farming.
-
When to leave Fortress for citadels? After: T15 waystone loop is self-sustaining, you have 50-100+ atlas points, and Arbiter is defeated. Venturing out before this point means running maps that don't progress the atlas while losing the density of the Fortress farming loop.
Common mistakes
Atlas mistakes that kill farming efficiency
- Skipping atlas tablet and waystone nodes early. These are the foundation of T15 sustain. Running maps without them means constantly buying waystones or dropping back to lower tiers.
- Running maps outside Fortress walls before atlas is ready. Those maps grant zero atlas progression. Every raid outside is time not spent building the Fortress loop that funds everything else.
- Investing in Delirium too early. Currently unreliable and often bugged relative to the difficulty it adds to maps. It can brick runs at the worst time. Run other mechanics until community feedback confirms Delirium is stable.
- Not using Doriyani before running juiced 6-mod tablets. Dying on a 6-mod map without a revive means losing the waystone and the tablet investment. Unlock Doriyani, use her revive, and run the map.
- Chasing 400/400 atlas completion too aggressively. Full atlas completion is a long-term goal. Hunting every node on the tree before your T15 loop is stable means losing farming momentum for incremental atlas gains that don't immediately pay off.
