Minecrawler Queen: Preparation

The Minecrawler Queen is the most complained-about boss in Gothic 1 Remake. She two-shots or three-shots players on Hard/Gothic difficulty, has multi-phase fights with fast melee swipes, venom spit, ground slams, and adds in phase 2. Proper preparation is essential.

Minecrawler Queen: Phase 1 (Stationary)

  1. Approach from the side

Approach quickly from far left or right side. Hug the wall or corner if possible. Do not approach from the front or center.

  2. Hit once and dodge

Get very close and hit her once. Prefer 1H for speed or a strong overhead 2H swing. Immediately roll, dodge, or side-step to the opposite side.

  3. Stay glued to her sides

Repeat the hit-and-dodge pattern. Stay glued to her sides or front legs. Her attacks miss or get parried when you are this close. Use parry on melee swipes, dodge spit and slam.

  4. Push to phase transition

A few solid hits and she bursts and runs deeper into the tunnel. Heal up and re-save before following.

Why This Works

Positioning exploits her attack patterns and hitboxes. Staying close to her sides means most of her swipes miss. Acrobatics roll gives i-frames and mobility. High-Strength weapons let you chunk her fast before she can combo you.

Minecrawler Queen: Phase 2 (Mobile + Adds)

  1. Repeat side-hug strategy

Continue the side-hug, hit, and roll strategy from phase 1. Target her legs or back when possible for better damage angles.

  2. Manage adds

Dodge her ground slam (it stuns). Manage adds by kiting or quick-killing them. Do not let them surround you.

  3. Do not let her heal

If she starts healing (happens when you disengage too long), close distance immediately. Do not run away for extended periods.

  4. Chug potions aggressively

Use health potions without hesitation. Stay in her face for melee. For ranged or mage builds, stand in a safe corner or near the entrance and spam Firebolt or bow/crossbow. Use mana regen items.

Key Decision Points

Melee vs Ranged/Mage

Melee needs Acrobatics plus a good sword plus positioning. Ranged can corner-cheese with Firebolt or bow but must watch mana and adds. Hybrid (Firebolt plus melee) is popular and flexible.

Should You Get Acrobatics?

Yes if melee. Go learn it if you are dying a lot. Skip only if you are overgeared with a parry-focused build. The roll i-frames are critical on Hard/Gothic.

Difficulty Scaling

On Hard or Gothic difficulty, prioritize gear and potions more heavily. Lower difficulty forgives positioning mistakes but the strategies still apply.

1H vs 2H Weapon

1H is faster for hit-and-dodge cycles. 2H deals more damage per hit but leaves you exposed longer. Use 2H only if you have Acrobatics for reliable dodging.
