Versatile Bleed Build Guide
Arcane-first bleed build that works in every scenario - multiple weapon paths, a fallback plan for bleed-immune bosses, and Dragon incantations for free damage.
Most bleed builds are one-note: they destroy normal enemies but stall completely against bleed-immune bosses with no backup plan. The versatile build uses Arcane scaling + multiple weapon types + Dragon incantations so you always have an effective tool, regardless of what you're fighting.
Build Foundation: Target Stats
Starting class: Samurai or Bandit for good base Dex/Arcane. Use Rennala to respec if needed as you unlock new weapons.
1Early Game (Level 30-50)
- Get Bloody Slash Ash of War from Fort Haight (east Limgrave). Duplicate it at a blacksmith with Lost Ashes of War
- Farm two Bandit's Curved Swords from skeleton bandits in Weeping Peninsula. Set both to Blood affinity with Bloody Slash. Dual-wield jump attacks proc bleed extremely fast
- Alternative: Kill the Bloody Finger invader near Agheel Lake for Reduvia (innate bleed + Reduvia Blood Blade AoW) - pair with a Great Knife + Bloody Slash
- Level Vigor to 30-40 first, then push Arcane, then Dex to weapon requirements
2Mid Game (Level 50-100)
Get the Black Whetblade first - it unlocks Blood/Occult infusions on more weapon types.
- Bloodhound's FangSouth Limgrave Evergaol. Solid curved greatsword, can be buffed. Good all-rounder for early-mid content.
- Cross-Naginata / FlambergeInnate bleed. Set to Occult for Arcane scaling or Blood for max bleed. Strong for poke and sweep variety.
- Eleonora's PolebladeVolcano Manor quest reward. Excellent AoW for crowd damage.
- Bleed-Immune FallbackNightrider Flail, Monk's Flamemace, or Keen curved sword/greathammer. Still hits hard on Dex scaling for immune enemies.
3Late Game / Endgame (Level 150+ / DLC)
Main setup: Dual Bandit's Curved Swords with Seppuku AoW (self-bleed triggers Lord of Blood's Exultation), or Occult weapons with multi-hit AoWs like Sword Dance.
Strong additions: Bloodfiend's Arm (DLC, very high bleed), Venomous Fang (poison synergy), Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear for variety.
Talismans:
Armor: White Mask (syncs with Lord of Blood's Exultation) + Rakshasa set (minus helmet) for poise and fashion.
Key Decision Points
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Ignoring Vigor - 50+ is mandatory; you will die to every boss hit in late game and DLC without it
- No fallback plan for bleed-immune enemies - always carry a Keen strike weapon or a Dragon incantation
- Skipping the Dragon Communion Seal and Bloodflame Blade - free damage multipliers that most players ignore
- Pure jump-attack spam without learning movesets - less effective against hard bosses and repetitive
- Arcane below 40 on Blood/Occult weapons - bleed buildup scales very poorly without enough Arcane
- Not picking up the Black Whetblade early - it unlocks far more weapon options for this build
