Elden Ring Strength Faith Build

A versatile hybrid build that combines colossal weapon damage with powerful incantation buffs - tanky, hard-hitting, and viable from Limgrave through the DLC.

Strength 50-66 Faith 40-60 Vigor 50-60 PvE All Stages

Core Problem

Players want a build that hits like a truck in melee while having access to healing, weapon buffs, and ranged options. Pure Strength builds lack utility; pure Faith builds feel squishy. The Strength/Faith hybrid solves both - you get colossal weapon damage backed by Golden Vow, Flame Grant Me Strength, and weapon enchant incantations that multiply your output.

This build works at every stage of the game. The key is knowing when to invest in which stats and which weapons to chase at each phase.

Step-by-Step Progression

Early Game (Limgrave / Liurnia, Level 30-60)

Focus on meeting minimum weapon requirements first, then pump Vigor to 30. Faith only needs 15-20 early for basic buffs.

Weapons: Any heavy weapon with Sacred or Flame Art affinity via Ash of War. Use Flaming Strike on a big weapon for fire damage plus charged heavies. Brick Hammer or Greatsword are excellent early picks.

Incantations: Catch Flame (quick close-range), Flame Sling, Urgent Heal. Get Bestial incantations from Gurranq for low-Faith value like Bestial Vitality. Lightning Spear for range.

Seal: Finger Seal or early Clawmark Seal (scales with Strength).

Why this works Faith buffs like early Golden Vow variants massively boost melee damage. Elemental infusions carry until weapon upgrades kick in. Weapons upgraded with smithing stones matter far more than raw stats at this stage.

Mid Game (Altus Plateau / Mt. Gelmir / Leyndell, Level 80-120)

Push Faith to 25-40 for Golden Vow, Flame Grant Me Strength, Black Flame Blade, and Bloodflame Blade. Strength to 40-54 (soft cap for two-handing). Vigor 40-50+, Endurance 20-30 for poise and armor.

Key Weapons: Blasphemous Blade (Volcano Manor), Magma Wyrm's Scalesword, Gargoyle's Blackblade, Ordovis's Greatsword, Siluria's Tree, or any infusable colossal/great weapon with Flame Art or Holy. Great Club with Order's Blade is a strong budget option.

Incantations/Buffs: Golden Vow + Flame Grant Me Strength (huge melee boost stack), Black Flame Blade or Bloodflame Blade on weapon, Lightning Spear or Flame of Frenzy for range, Pest Threads or dragon breaths if you have minor Arcane.

Seal: Clawmark (Strength scaling) or switch to Erdtree/Godslayer/Gravel Stone for specific spell boosts.

Playstyle loop Buff before fights, two-hand and use charged heavies or Flaming Strike, supplement with spears and incantations during openings. Mimic Tear helps enormously.

Late Game / DLC (Level 150+)

Strength 54-66 (or higher for specific weapons), Faith 40-60+ (or 80 for pure spell power). Vigor 50-60, Mind 20-30 for more casts, Endurance for heavy armor.

Weapons: Fire Knight's Greatsword (Flame Art), Maliketh's Black Blade (percent health shred), Anvil Hammer, Blacksteel Greathammer, Marika's Hammer, Envoy horns for holy bubbles.

Talismans: Two-Handed Sword Talisman, Axe Talisman (charged heavies), Bull-Goat for poise, Dragoncrest Greatshield for defense, or Faith-boosting options.

Physick: Flame-Shrouded Crystal Tear + Spiked for charged attacks.

Key Decision Points

How Faith-heavy should you go? Minimum 25-28 Faith for core buffs (Golden Vow, FGMS) plus weapon enchants, then dump into Strength for raw damage. For more spell damage, push Faith higher. The 40 Strength / 54 Faith split is popular for hybrids who want strong incantations without sacrificing melee.
Infusion choice: Heavy vs Flame Art vs Sacred Heavy (pure Strength scaling + buffable) gives flexibility. Flame Art (Faith scaling + fire damage) wins for versatility since fewer enemies resist fire. Sacred/Holy is strong against undead but faces heavy resistance in late-game areas - swap to fire or lightning when holy damage falls off.
Seal switching strategy Clawmark Seal early and mid-game for Strength synergy. Erdtree Seal late-game for general Faith scaling. Dual-wield seals for buffs plus specific boosts - keep Giant's Seal in off-hand for fire incantations, or Gravel Stone Seal for lightning.
