AION 2: Login Queue or Maintenance - Launch Week
Launch-week login fails in two completely different ways: scheduled maintenance that disconnects everyone, and capacity queues on full servers that reset your spot if the client drops. They need opposite responses.
First, identify your state: a maintenance message means nothing on your PC will get you in - stop retrying. A decreasing queue number means servers are up and the only reliable move is staying in line. Everything below follows from which one you are seeing.
1Confirm Which State You Are In
-
1
Maintenance message or login fully unavailable = servers down
Early Access already had short maintenance windows, the Oct 5 commercial launch used an 8-hour window that cut into the paid head start, and Oct 7 has another reported maintenance window.
-
2
A queue position number = past maintenance, servers are up
Community reports put waits around 30-45 minutes for a position near 1,500, with some players seeing 2,000-3,500.
2If It Is Maintenance: Wait, Then One Clean Relaunch
-
1
Do not spam login
Anyone already in-game is disconnected when the window starts - there is no grace period, and retrying changes nothing.
-
2
When the maintenance message clears, restart the launcher once
This applies any post-maintenance client update. A launcher restart fixed "temporarily unavailable" / Purple login loops for players in earlier congested periods - reinstalling did not.
-
3
Still seeing maintenance after the posted window ended?
Check whether the window was extended before troubleshooting your PC or reinstalling.
3If You Are in a Queue: Leave the Client Alone
-
1
A moving number is capacity, not a broken client
Only reconnect if the number is frozen for a long stretch or an explicit error kicks you out.
-
2
Do not close, restart, or crash near the front
Players report disconnects near the front of the line - one waited from ~2,000 down to 800, crashed, and landed at 2,486 with the number stalled. Closing or restarting does not preserve your place.
-
3
Do not log out on purpose during peak hours
The line you leave is longer when you come back.
4Decision: Stay on Your Server or Roll a New One
Common Mistakes
- Restarting or alt-tabbing the client while the queue counts down. The main way players lose their place.
- Treating a queue as a connection error. Reinstalling or cycling VPN/booster routes does nothing for capacity - launch-week issues are capacity and auth resets, not your local network.
- Logging out voluntarily at peak hours. You rejoin a longer line.
- Assuming today's downtime is your install. If the maintenance window ended and you still see the message, check for an extension first.
- Planning a server transfer this week. Transfers open October 14 with Early Access restrictions.
