Aion 2 Servers
Every Aion 2 server belongs to exactly one faction — Elyos or Asmodian — and each Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian one for cross-faction PvP. How the pairing works, the full regional roster, and how to pick.
Picking a server in Aion 2 is really three choices: region → faction → server. Region is permanent and sets your ping. Faction is permanent and decides which side your friends must be on. The server itself matters least — NC's transfers and rotating pairings smooth out populations.
How servers and pairing actually work
- 1One faction per server
An Elyos server holds only Elyos; you'll never meet an Asmodian in your own capital. There's no faction change and no mixed-faction open world.
- 2Pairing decides your enemies
Each server is matched with a counterpart — the other faction in the Spacetime Rifts (opening every three hours), and since the October 28 notice, possibly your own faction in the Abyss (ilvl 1,000+).
- 3Pairs rotate
NC re-pairs servers periodically to keep faction fights balanced — your Abyss rival today may not be next month's. A new pairing also resets Artifacts held and Abyss corridors.
- 4Transfers stay inside the box
The free server transfer window (October 14–28) moved you within your faction and region only — never across faction or region lines.
Server roster by region
NC's launch list: EU is the largest region; SEA players are directed to Global/Asia. Launch servers opened first, Advanced Access servers came with the head-start period.
| Region | Launch pairs | Advanced Access pairs | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Europe | 13 | 9 | Biggest region — Nania/Hadala, Kaisinel/Lumiel, Siel/Israphel and more |
| NA East | 5 | 3 | Kaisinel/Lumiel, Yustiel/Marchutan, Ariel/Azphel, Fregion/Ereshkigal, Meslamtaeda/Beritra + Siel/Israphel, Nezekan/Zikel, Vaizel/Triniel |
| NA West | 3 | 2 | West-coast hosting |
| Asia | 10 | — | Japan-hosted; SEA players pick Global in PURPLE |
| Latin | 6 | — | Latin America |
Which server should you pick?
- 1Region = ping, locked forever
Pick the closest region to you and your friends — transfers never cross regions.
- 2Faction = your friends' side
No cross-faction parties or trading in the open world, so being on the wrong side means you can only fight your friends, never join them. Factions are mechanically identical — same eight classes, same gear stats.
- 3Solo? Pick by story and vibe
Elyos get the brighter aesthetic, Asmodians the darker one — combat balance is even, so choose what you'd rather look at for 500 hours.
- 4Server = least important
Take a recommended/low-queue server. Population differences get leveled by pair rotations and transfer windows anyway.
FAQ
Can Elyos and Asmodian players play together?
Not in the open world — factions only meet in cross-faction content: the Abyss and the Spacetime Rifts. Dungeons do matchmake across servers.
Can I change faction or region later?
No — both are permanent. Server transfers only move you within the same faction and region.
What does a server pairing decide?
Which server's players you face in the Rifts and Abyss. NC rotates pairings to balance the factions over time.
How big was launch?
About 400,000 concurrent players on day one globally — the reason so many servers opened and why queues and transfer windows exist.
Is there a server transfer right now?
The free transfer window ran October 14–28 and has closed — NC opens them periodically, usually after pair rotations or population shifts.
