Short answer: the two credible PS5 emulator projects today are KytyPS5 (C++ translation layer, the furthest along) and SharpEmu (C# emulator with a desktop app). A third project, AnyPS5, is not an emulator at all — it rewrites game files into native PC programs. All three are free, open source, and only distributed through GitHub.

⚠

"PS5 emulator" is a classic scam lure. Every real project here is free on GitHub and never ships an installer wizard, a paid download, or a "BIOS pack". Any site bundling a PS5 emulator with surveys, login fields, or extra software is fake — and sites using project names like "Kyty" on non-GitHub domains are not the real thing.

Which one should you try?

Want the most games booting

Start with KytyPS5 — it is furthest along, with a launcher app, a community compatibility list and weekly builds. Vulkan 1.3 GPU is mandatory.

Want a friendly interface

SharpEmu ships a real desktop app: add a folder of game dumps, press Launch. Fewer working games, but far less setup friction.

Want a specific small game

If your title is on AnyPS5's playable list, the relinker route gives you a native program with no emulator overhead at all.

Expectation check: no PS5 emulator runs the big first-party catalog yet. Treat this as a hobbyist frontier — playable today means mostly smaller 2D and indie titles, and "boots" often means menus, not a finished playthrough.

What you need

ComponentRequirement
GPUVulkan-capable with current drivers (Vulkan 1.3 for KytyPS5; SharpEmu's macOS build bundles MoltenVK)
OS64-bit Windows 10/11 or a current Linux distro; macOS support is experimental everywhere
Game filesYour own legally dumped PS5 games — no project ships games, firmware or keys
PatienceCheck the per-game compatibility list before judging a build; results vary game to game and build to build

Common questions

Can a PS5 emulator play Bloodborne or God of War on PC?

Not yet. Big first-party titles mostly fail to boot or crash at logos across all projects. The playable list is dominated by smaller games — check per-title status before downloading anything.

Is there a PS5 emulator for Android or iOS?

No credible one. Any mobile "PS5 emulator" app is fake. If you want PS5 games on a phone, the only real route today is remote play or cloud streaming from hardware you own.

Is downloading a PS5 emulator legal?

The emulators themselves are free open-source software and legal to download — they ship no Sony code or games. You are responsible for only using game files dumped from a console you own.

What about PS4 games?

Use ShadPS4 — a dedicated, much further-along PS4 emulator. SharpEmu explicitly skips PS4 because ShadPS4 already covers it.
