Well Dweller Matchstick Flame: How Your Health Works
The matchstick flame is your health bar. Bright and tall means full health and double damage dealt. Dim and short means low health and double damage taken. Relighting heals and gives a short attack buff, but it is a timing minigame, not a one-button flask.
What the Flame Means
Bright, Tall Flame
Full health. You deal double damage. This is where you want to be before engaging.
Dim, Short Ember
Low health. You take double damage. Relight before the next fight.
Just Relit
Health restored plus a short attack buff. That is the moment to swing hard.
Flame Fully Out
Glass cannon in reverse. Two hits in a row will drop you. Relight immediately.
Relighting the Flame
Key Choices
Heal Now or Push?
If the flame is nearly out, you take double hits. Relight even if it costs a vial. Dying costs more than a vial.
Save a Vial for the Boss?
Vials refill at tents. Do not hoard them for "later" if you are already dim. The next room will eat you.
Hunter's Locket
Widens the heal timing window. Equip at a tent. Makes the minigame much easier.
Tiny Witch Sculpture
Makes healing also refill a flaming vessel. Grab extra trinket slots when you see them.
