Well Dweller: How to Find Hidden Passages with the Glass Eye
Stop poking every suspicious wall. The Glass Eye trinket makes secret walls go translucent when you get close - here is where to buy it, how to afford it fast, and what to pair it with.
Core goal: stop missing hidden passages (currency pots, trinket slots, story pages, tokens). Buy and equip the Glass Eye so secret walls turn translucent when you get close - you no longer have to test every wall by hand.
1Get and Equip the Glass Eye
- 1Reach a Tent
The save / fast-travel / shop hub. Looter sells trinkets there; Glass Eye is an early shop item.
- 2Farm 450 currency
Smash jars and pots, kill enemies. Grab Weathered Coin from the same shop when you can - more money per kill makes the 450 come faster and later purchases hurt less.
- 3Buy the Glass Eye
Costs 450. Your first shop purchase can also pop the "First Purchase" achievement.
- 4Equip it at the cauldron / trinket loadout
It takes a trinket slot. Buy extra slots from Looter (often 250 each, discounted later) if you are short on room.
- 5Walk rooms slowly near odd walls, dead ends, and vertical shafts
When a hidden passage is nearby, that wall turns translucent. Walk through. That is the whole loop.
2Pair It With These
- 1Minimap ON (Gameplay settings)
Off by default. It shows extra exits and locked chunks so you know which rooms are worth lingering in.
- 2Rusted Compass (found in the world, not the early shop)
Signals when a collectible is in the current room. Glass Eye shows the wall; Compass tells you the room is worth searching.
Decision Points
| Choice | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Glass Eye vs more slots / combat trinkets first? | Glass Eye. Players who 100%'d the game treat it as the first "never take off" exploration buy - combat trinkets can wait while you are still mapping. |
| Weathered Coin vs Glass Eye if you only have cash for one? | Coin pays for itself; Glass Eye stops you walking past secrets. Buy both as soon as the tent is open. |
| Room looks empty but Compass pings? | Stay and sweep every wall with Glass Eye equipped. Secrets are often top-left, behind spikes, or above a climb you did not think to test. |
Common Mistakes
- Leaving Glass Eye unequipped after buying it. Slots get tight - people swap it off for a fight and forget.
- Assuming every secret is a breakable wall you smash with the matchstick. Many are walk-through passages that only show with the Eye.
- Ignoring the tent shop early and brute-forcing walls for hours.
- Never turning the minimap on, so you do not realize a room has a second exit.
