Core problem: Players buy the wrong can because smoke and signal grenades look almost identical in the shop UI. One is concealment. The other is a resupply or landing ping. Using the wrong one gets you shot, or marks you for two other teams.

What Each One Actually Does

Concealment
Smoke Grenade
Thick cloud. Blocks sight. White and black are the vision-denial colors.
Use for: crossing open ground, masking a revive, cutting a sniper's lane.
Resupply Ping
Signal Grenade
Thin colored plume that goes straight up. Pings on the map that you need supplies or a landing. Does not hide you.
Use for: heli runs, ammo drops, pickup marking. FOBs spawn with these.
If you bought it for a gunfight or a medic run, you bought the wrong item. Players in voice have already asked "what's the red smoke?" and been told "that's signal smoke."

1How to Choose in the Shop

They look the same in the UI. That is the trap the playtest crowd keeps repeating. Check twice.

Which Grenade in Each Situation

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Immediate Loadout Rule

Leave base with at least one concealment smoke if you plan to fight or medic. Keep a signal only if you are running logistics or calling a bird. Save one smoke for the second wave or retake. If the throw did not change a path, a revive, or a vehicle approach, it was wasted money.
