The thing players actually care about: how long it takes to get from HQ or safe zone back into the 2x2 km fight, and how to stop death from costing you several minutes every time. There is no respawn countdown. You come back in the safe zone. The clock is however long the trip takes. Walk it and you lose the round.

The Map at a Glance

Full Map
16 x 16 km (256 km²)
Almost none of this is the match. The rest is approach, spawn, and logistics. That is why vehicles exist.
The Actual Fight
2 x 2 km Control Zone (4 km²)
Three teams fight over a randomized 2x2 km zone. Hot Zone inside it pays double. Over half the map goes unused in a given game. That is intended.

Travel Times from Players

RouteTime
HQ to Control Zone on footUp to ~5 minutes on the usual spawn-to-front path. Crossing the whole 16 km map on foot is an hour-plus problem. Do not do it.
HQ to zone by road (jeep, SUV, truck)About 3-5 minutes. Players call this "dangerous 5-minute-ish" and often skip it if a bird is inbound.
HQ to zone by helicopterFastest loop. Under a minute of flight for a UH-1Y-class bird. Waiting on pad plus landing still beats a full road run. Road round-trips are 2-3x longer than air.
Full map circumnavigation~90 minutes to get around the whole thing. Irrelevant to scoring.
Three faction HQs sit on the valley floor (east, west, south). The valley road is the only long flat route. Ridges decide fights. The road is where traffic is forced.
