WARDOGS Best Sniper Rifle and Scope Guide
A sniper kit you buy once has to work across lives. The Scout is a trap, SV98 and MK22 often pay more for the same chest TTK as the Mosin, and the AMR 50 only pays off if you can hit and survive carrying 12.5 kg.
Goal: Get a bolt gun that one-shots heads and two-shots unarmored chests without bankrupting you, then mount glass that matches the ranges you actually fight, not the biggest number on the vendor card. A sniper kit you buy once has to work across lives, so the cash math matters as much as the damage profile.
Sniper Rifles at a Glance
| Rifle | Price | Weight | Profile |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mosin Nagant | ~$4,500 | ~4.1 kg | Community default. One-shot head, two-shot unarmored chest. Players post 500 m+ hits. |
| SV98 | ~$5,200 | ~5.8 kg | Same kill profile as Mosin. Pay extra only for 10-round mag and attachment slots. |
| MK22 | ~$6,400 | ~6.3 kg | Side-grade. Buy for IR/thermal spotting and assist income, not for better TTK. |
| AMR 50 | ~$8,800 | ~12.5 kg | True one-shot-chest .50. Only if you can hit and survive the weight tax. |
| Scout Rifle TD | - | - | Trap. 5.56, ~28 damage, ~46 RPM. Too weak to justify the slot. |
1What to Buy and Why
- 1Do not buy the Scout Rifle TD as your first sniper.
Use an AR plus a spotting scope or binoculars to farm Recon XP until SKS, then Mosin.
- 2Default pick: Mosin Nagant (~$4,500).
Same two-shot unarmored chest and one-shot head profile as SV98 and MK22, for less money and less weight.
- 3Skip SV98 unless you specifically want the 10-round mag or extra attachment slots.
Players treat it as a more expensive Mosin, not a different animal.
- 4MK22 (~$6,400) is a side-grade for recon support.
Buy it if you already have cash and want the IR/thermal spotting and assist income loop.
- 5AMR 50 (~$8,800) only after you can afford to miss.
True one-shot-chest .50 if you can hit. Also 12.5 kg, slow bolt, and a huge hole in your wallet if you die. Practice drop on the range first.
- 6Practice range before you spend.
Zero, holdover, and bolt cadence on all rifles for free. Maps are large. Drop is real.
2Scope Choice
3Play the Role, Not Just the Gun
- 1Spot vehicles, mark FOBs, call rotations, then take the shot.
- 2Relocate after you fire.
Tunnel-vision rooftop camping is how snipers get hunted.
- 3A 3-man recon/sniper stack tagging flanks is what players describe as actually winning games.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Buying Scout "because it's listed as sniper." It is too weak to justify the slot.
- Paying $700-$1,900 extra for SV98 or MK22 expecting a different TTK than Mosin.
- Mounting max-zoom glass and getting farmed in mid-range. Match the scope to the fights you actually take.
- Never ranging and never zeroing. Carry a rangefinder.
- Sitting in the same window after the first shot. Relocate.
- Running AMR on foot between objectives. The weight tax is real. 12.5 kg kills your mobility.
