No More Room in Hell 2 Survival: Speaker Defense vs Early Extraction
Survival is not about clearing the map. You keep the active speaker stack alive for three 5-minute broadcasts. Kill count does not win the wave, speaker integrity does. Fail two speakers and the run is pushed into early extraction with lost mission XP.
Core problem: In Survival, you are not clearing a map. You are keeping the active speaker stack alive for three 5-minute broadcasts. Kill count does not win the wave. Speaker integrity does. Fail two speakers and the run is pushed into early extraction with lost mission XP. Hold all three and you get the helicopter extract with a last respawn window.
1How the Survival Loop Actually Works
- 1Spawn with a few minutes to loot and set defenses around the first speaker (green smoke plume).
- 2Hold the speaker for 5 minutes. Zombies path to the broadcast, not to you.
- 3Wave ends. CRC supply drop. Short move to the next speaker.
- 4Repeat to three successful holds, then helicopter extract.
- 5One failed speaker is recoverable. Two failed speakers force early extract and drop mission XP.
2Prep: Before Anyone Starts the Broadcast
-
1
Mark the speaker and the approach lanes.
Do not start the wave while people are still mid-loot.
-
2
Split the squad: at least two people stay on the speaker.
Most of the squad loots nearby buildings. Community consensus: wandering off for one more crate is how speakers die.
-
3
Fortify close to the speaker, not at the far edge.
Distant boards get chewed and do not buy the hold. Place boards on the last choke you can actually shoot through.
-
4
Grab yellow-crate loot: Gasoline, Fuses.
Gasoline powers generators and electric floor traps. Fuses lock electric doors so the horde only has one way in. Carry these in-hand during prep, not mid-wave, because they slow you.
-
5
Save explosives for the last two minutes of a wave.
Density spikes late. Using explosives early leaves you dry when it matters.
3During the 5 Minutes: Hold the Speaker
-
1
Watch speaker integrity, not the kill feed.
If zombies are on the stack, peel them. If they are 30m out, let them walk in.
-
2
Assign lanes: one melee/CC on the tight door, one gunner on runners, one floater for the backside.
Survival rewards a CC + medic core more than a full roam squad.
-
3
Do not chase stragglers.
Leftover zombies do not despawn and will walk with you to the next speaker. Clear what is on the path during the move, not during the hold.
-
4
Time traps late.
Gas starts burning the moment the generator is on. Wait until a clump is on the pad. Fuel-drum flamethrower crank is a short burst, use it on a packed doorway, not on two walkers.
-
5
Melee the walkers; guns for runners and primes.
Ammo drought on wave 3 is how extracts fail.
4Between Waves: Move Smart
-
1
Loot the drop, then move unused boards / fuel / fuses to the next speaker.
Do not leave them behind.
-
2
Thin the trail of zombies between sites.
So the next hold does not start already surrounded.
-
3
Do not stand under a settling supply crate.
It can crush you.
-
4
Patch health and infection before anyone arms the next broadcast.
Coughing teammates need pills or a med check immediately.
5Key Decision: Keep Holding vs Extract
| Situation | Choice |
|---|---|
| 0-1 speaker failed, roster mostly up | Stay and finish three holds. Full heli extract, mission XP, drop loot. |
| 2 speakers failed | Early extract is now the mission. Continuing is a wipe farm with no mission XP. |
| 3 or fewer Responders alive (any mode) | Green-hatch early extract is available. Character lives, character XP forfeited, supplies dump into team pool. |
| Infection with no pills / no gene kit | Extract if a hatch or heli is reachable. Extract clears active infection penalties. |
| Wave 3 just ended | Use the Survival-specific respawn at end of Wave 3 / start of extract, then push LZ. This respawn exists so the extract is not a 2-person suicide run. |
6Full Extract vs Early Extract
7Common Mistakes
- Treating Survival like Objective: roaming for "one more POI" while the speaker ticks to 0%.
- Barricading the outer fence instead of the last doorway you can hold.
- Starting the generator at minute 0 and wasting the whole fuel can.
- Chasing every zombie and opening a back door the horde then uses.
- Burning all guns on wave 1 walkers, then facing runners dry on wave 3.
- Ignoring leftover zombies between sites. They follow you to the next speaker.
- Standing under the crate. It can crush you.
- Pushing a third doomed hold after two speaker fails instead of taking early extract.
- Leaving extract early before the save registers after boarding.
