Hell Let Loose Vietnam US Supply and Transport Helicopters
US teams lose because players treat helicopters as sightseeing gunships. Here is how to actually use the supply bird for garrisons and the transport for insertion, plus the restock loop and water drops.
Two different aircraft. Confirm which one you are in before you leave HQ. Transport: troops + door guns + flares, use this to move people. Supply: two seats only, use this to drop crates and build the garrison network. It does not carry infantry. NVA tunnels win when no one is dropping supplies for garrisons or flying full transports onto the next point.
1Get in the Right Seat and Start the Aircraft
-
1
Join a Helicopter unit as Pilot or Logistics Officer
-
2
Deploy at HQ next to the marked helicopter
-
3
Sit in the pilot (right) seat
-
4
Press E to start the engine
Do not try to fly with it off.
-
5
Hold Space to climb, hold Left Ctrl to descend
W/S pitch, A/D roll. Mouse buttons yaw by default. Left Shift toggles auto-level. Turn it off when you need speed, or it keeps pulling the nose level and slowing you down.
2How to Drop Supplies
This is the job that wins games.
-
1
Fly the supply helicopter
Or switch to it after the first insertion.
-
2
Get low over the spot where a garrison or node should go
Not on the hot point if you can avoid it. Backup garrisons win more matches than front-line hero drops.
-
3
Press Z to switch to the co-pilot seat
-
4
Hold E when the drop prompt appears
You get two crates (50 supplies each, 100 total).
-
5
If solo, land or hover first, switch seats, drop, switch back, and fly out
Do not try to fly from the co-pilot seat.
-
6
Land the crates away from your own rotors
Players keep destroying the garrison they just funded on takeoff.
3The Restock Loop
-
1
Fly back to an HQ helipad
-
2
Land fully
-
3
Press E to shut the engine off
-
4
Wait
The pad auto-refills supplies and repairs. Leaving the engine running does nothing.
4How to Use the Transport Helicopter
-
1
At match start, fill every seat
An empty Huey is a waste.
-
2
Fly the next point, not the one everyone is already walking to
If you are fast, you land a squad before NVA has bodies there.
-
3
Land clean and get people out quickly
Hovering forever gets the aircraft shot and the passengers killed.
-
4
Water drop shortcut: over deep water, infantry can jump from height with no fall damage
You do not have to land. Dump them on a river flank and go back for another load.
-
5
After the first lift, swap to the supply bird and start building garrisons
Or orbit only if you have gunners and a real job.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Taking a supply heli when the team needed a ride (or the reverse). Confirm which aircraft you are in before you leave HQ.
- Landing on the pad and leaving the engine on, then wondering why nothing restocks. Shut the engine off with E.
- Building or dropping a garrison under the rotor disk. Land crates away from your own rotors.
- Using the transport as a loiter gunship after the first 10 minutes. Door guns are inaccurate. Go get supplies.
- Flying empty or without talking in command or unit chat. Coordination is the whole point.
- Crashing the only birds because nobody practiced takeoff and landing. Practice on the range first.
