Crimson Moon 2-Player Co-Op Host Code Invite
Co-op is online only, 2 players max. It unlocks after you beat the tutorial Demon Brute and reach the hub Sanctus Clypeus. Here is how to generate a Host Code, share it, and get into the same session across platforms.
You and a friend finished the tutorial and are sitting in the hub, but you cannot figure out how to generate a Host Code, share it, and actually get into the same 2-player session. Players on launch day keep hitting the same wall: they look for Steam, PSN, or Xbox friend invites first, then get stuck because the reliable method is the in-game Host Code.
1Host and Join With a Code
-
1
Both players finish the tutorial and stand in Sanctus Clypeus
If either of you is still in the opening mission, the multiplayer menu will not give you a usable code. Beat Demon Brute first.
-
2
Host opens the in-game menu in the hub
Do this in the hub, not mid-mission.
-
3
Host chooses Host Game
Pick Private (only someone with your code can join, what most duos want) or Public (others can also find you via Quick Match).
-
4
Host copies the Host Code shown on that same menu screen
Send that code in Discord, chat, or text. That string is the invite.
-
5
Friend opens the same hub menu and chooses Join Via Code
Paste the Host Code exactly. Do not use Quick Match if you want this friend.
-
6
Wait until both of you are in the same hub instance
Devs confirmed you stay together in the hub after a hunt. You do not get split into separate lobbies. Change loadouts, talk to NPCs, then start the next mission from the same party.
-
7
Start a mission from the War Table or mission select as a pair
Difficulty and enemy density scale up automatically for two players. You share a life pool. If one of you goes down, the other can revive, but burning the shared lives ends the run.
2Key Decisions
| Decision | Choose this if |
|---|---|
| Private plus Host Code | You only want your friend. This is the option launch-day players are asking for. |
| Public or Quick Match | You want a random second Nephilim. |
| Who hosts | Host on the more stable connection. Co-op is peer-to-peer. The better connection should host. |
| Crossplay | Yes. Steam, Epic, PS5, and Xbox can share the same code. Console players still need PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core or Essential for online. PC does not. |
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Trying to invite during the tutorial. Codes appear only in the hub after Demon Brute.
- Using Quick Match when you already have a code. That can dump you into a stranger's lobby.
- Expecting local or couch co-op. It does not exist. Two consoles or PCs and online are required.
- Expecting a 3rd player. Hard cap is 2.
- Hosting Public and wondering why a random joined. Use Private for a friend session.
- Leaving the session between missions. You should return to the same shared hub. If you quit to title, regenerate a new code.
- Forgetting console online subscriptions. PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core or Essential is required on console.
