1666: Amsterdam Early Access August 25 Build: What Is In It
Players want to know what the August 25 Early Access build actually contains before they spend about $30, not the marketing pitch of "15 hours." Here is how much map, how many hunts, how the loop works, and what is still missing.
Core problem: you get the first campaign slice of 1666: Amsterdam. Noa hunting Originals in a tiny slice of 17th-century Amsterdam, with Aaron as the cat familiar, plus short jumps to 1999 and the present. It is not a full city and it is not a finished game.

3How to Play This Build Without Wasting Hours
-
1
Play the free prologue first (still live on Steam and EGS).
About 30 minutes, almost no combat, and tells you if the tone and timeline hopping click. If the walking-sim opening already loses you, the paid slice is the same story style with two hunts bolted on.
-
2
After the prologue, talk to Cornelia.
Walk toward the moon or last standing figure in the 1666 street and start the first contract. Do not wander expecting a second district, there isn't one yet.
-
3
Treat each month as four jobs, in order.
Gather street clues (posters plus conversations), enter the marked large building, find identity plus seal, night fight. Skipping the day investigation makes the night fight harder and more confusing.
-
4
Default to the cat for buildings.
If a door is locked or a floor is restricted, swap to Aaron immediately. Climb, squeeze, or possess. Forcing Noa through the front as a witch will trip suspicion and spawn an ugly fight with a wild camera.
-
5
Stay civilian in crowds.
Save red-witch form for night, sealed rooms, or when you already intend to fight. Daytime magic is how you get boxed in by guards.
-
6
Expect to search "dumb" places.
Clues sit on the tenth bookshelf or a random table. If you are stuck, systematically sweep every room in the two big interiors rather than looking for a quest marker.
-
7
Plan boss deaths.
If the demon fight is eating you, bank artifacts and upgrades first. A wipe is several minutes of loading and cutscene, not a quick checkpoint.
4Key Decision Points
Common Mistakes
- Expecting Assassin's Creed parkour across all of Amsterdam. This slice is a handful of blocks and two interiors.
- Burning witch form in the street on day one. Suspicion meter fills and the watch comes.
- Ignoring Aaron. Many locked routes are designed for the cat, not Noa.
- Assuming every NPC "sees" you consistently. AI is broken both ways, sometimes magnetized, sometimes blind.
- Treating the Steam "15 hours" as dense unique content. A lot of that time is searching and retrying.
- Not updating after Aug 27 if you crash in the Codex tutorial or after combat.
