What's new: Z Mega Evolution

Flowing Fists introduces Z Mega Evolution Pokemon to the card game — Mega forms first seen in the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A. In the TCG they arrive as Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, and this is the first set to feature them. The set name is also a nod to XY's Furious Fists (2014), the set that gave us M Lucario EX.

Headliner: Mega Lucario Z ex

Ability — Aura Seeker

Once during your turn, if this Pokemon is in the Active Spot, search your deck for a Supporter card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your deck.

Attack — Dancing Fist: 120+

If your opponent's Active Pokemon is a Pokemon ex, this attack does 120 more damage (240 total).

Mega Evolution ex rule

When your Mega Evolution Pokemon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 3 Prize cards.

Why it's strong: a Stage 1 Mega that evolves straight from Riolu, an Ability that fetches any Supporter while it sits Active, and a two-Energy attack that hits 240 into Pokemon ex — the dominant attackers in the current format. The 3-Prize liability is the trade-off.

Preorders and prerelease

  1. 1
    Prerelease events

Local game stores run Build & Battle events January 23–31, 2027 — the earliest way to open Flowing Fists, roughly two weeks before retail.

  2. 2
    Expected product lineup

Based on previous Mega Evolution sets: booster boxes (36 packs), Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Bundles, and a Build & Battle box. Retail listings typically go up once the Japanese set is fully revealed in late November.

  3. 3
    Watch the Japanese reveal

Aura Seeker drops November 27, 2026 — every chase card, secret rare and full-art will be public about ten weeks before the English launch.

Pre-order caution: if a listing prices Flowing Fists far above MSRP before the card list is even public, you're paying hype tax. Mega Lucario Z ex will almost certainly get a Special Illustration Rare — wait for the reveal to see the real chase cards.

FAQ

What is a Z Mega Evolution?

A new category of Mega Evolution from Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC — Mega Lucario Z is the flagship. In the TCG they appear as Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, and Flowing Fists is the first set to include them.

How many cards are in the set?

The main set is numbered out of 80, plus secret rares on top — matching the recent small-set pattern of the Mega Evolution era.

Is Mega Lucario Z ex worth chasing?

Competitively it looks strong — cheap evolution line, free Supporter search every turn it's Active, and 240 damage into Pokemon ex. The 3-Prize KO penalty and Sigilyph ex's Mega Protection are the checks on it.
