VHOLUME Steam Workshop: How to Play Community Levels
VHOLUME launched with Steam Workshop community levels, but a lot of players cannot find the Workshop page, subscribe, or get those maps to appear in-game. Here is the exact browse, subscribe, restart, and play loop.
Core problem: the game supports Workshop at launch, and subscribed maps show up in an in-game Workshop list, not mixed into the official campaign. The part people miss is that the browse page lives in Steam, not inside the running game. The in-game menu is just your subscriptions.
1Find the Workshop
-
1
Do not look only inside the running game first.
The browse page lives in Steam. The in-game menu is just your subscriptions.
-
2
Open Steam, then Library, then VHOLUME.
-
3
Under the Play button, click Workshop, or go to Community Hub then the Workshop tab.
Direct page: steamcommunity.com/app/4131730/workshop/
-
4
If you only own the demo, use the full game's Workshop (app 4131730).
The demo and full game are separate.
-
5
Sort by Most Popular, Most Subscribed, or New.
Tags players actually use include short, medium, beginner, parkour, exploration, custom-textures.
2Subscribe and Wait for the Download
-
1
Open a level you want.
-
2
Click the green Subscribe button.
-
3
Watch Steam's download queue at the bottom.
Workshop maps are usually small and finish quickly.
-
4
If the game was already running while you subscribed, fully close VHOLUME and reopen it.
Players keep reporting that new subscriptions do not appear until a restart.
3Play It In-Game
-
1
Launch VHOLUME.
-
2
On the main menu, open Steam Workshop.
Same wording the community uses.
-
3
Your subscribed maps should be listed there. Select one and play it like an official level.
Solo or host multiplayer on it.
-
4
You can host a multiplayer session on a Workshop map.
Everyone runs at their own pace, PBs show in the lobby. It is not a forced race.
4Key Decision Points
Common Mistakes
- Looking for Workshop only inside the game and concluding it "isn't there." The browse page lives in Steam. The in-game menu is just your subscriptions.
- Leaving the game open after hitting Subscribe, then thinking the map failed to install. Fully close and reopen.
- Expecting Workshop maps to appear in the main campaign list. They are a separate menu.
- Blind-subscribing everything. Stick to maps with ratings and comments if you want to be cautious about random community levels.
- Confusing mapping tools with playing. Creating maps uses VHMap and the official mapping docs and Discord mapping channel. Playing only needs Subscribe plus the in-game Workshop list.
If the Map Still Does Not Show
- 1Confirm the download finished in Steam.
- 2Fully quit the game, not just the menu.
- 3Reopen and go to the in-game Steam Workshop list again.
- 4Unsubscribe and resubscribe that one item.
- 5Check you subscribed on the full game Workshop (4131730), not a leftover demo item.
