Escape from Tarkov
Tarkov Weekly Boss Rotation Strategy
During weekly boss rotation events, one boss gets boosted to 100% spawn on their primary map. This guide covers how to check the current rotation, gear up for each boss, run efficient routes, and extract with the loot without dying to PvP swarms.

Before you queue
Step-by-step rotation farming
Check the rotation before every session. Rotation weeks attract every player on the map. Queuing the wrong map wastes raids entirely. Confirm the active 100% boss first, then gear accordingly.
-
1Verify the current 100% boss and mapCheck community trackers and player posts for confirmed spawn data. Common 100% rotation combos:
Killa - Interchange,Shturman - Woods,Sanitar - Shoreline,Tagilla - Factory,Goons - Lighthouse. Do not guess - players share confirmation screenshots shortly after the reset. -
2Gear specifically for that boss and mapAll named bosses wear Class 5-6 armor. Bring high-pen ammo that defeats their protection level. Use at least 2-3 magazines and bring grenades -
F-1or impact grenades flush guards from cover and force voice lines confirming boss location. Bring painkillers and heavy bleed meds; guards always aim for limbs. -
3Run the boss spawn route immediately on entryEvery other player in the raid has the same goal. Early raid spawns give the best chance of reaching the boss first. Head straight to primary spawn areas - do not loot along the way on the approach. Save looting for after the kill.
-
4Isolate and kill guards before the bossGuards are the biggest threat - they call positions, relay flanks, and pin you while the boss finishes you off. Use cover and angles to take guards one by one. Never push open ground while guards have line of sight. Flash grenades and corner-clearing are faster than trying to peek multiple angles.
-
5Loot boss body first, extract immediatelyConfirm kill with voice line or visual. Boss body first - unique keys, rare mods, and armor. Then guards if time allows. Do not over-loot. Rotation weeks mean PvP pressure is constant. Third-party teams specifically wait for boss kills then push the winner. Extract with the valuable items rather than fighting for the rest.
Per-map routes
Boss-specific approach routes
Killa
Interchange
Spawn near center, OLI, or Goshan. Rush the mall center and patrol between OLI, IDEA, and the center corridor. Clear any raiders present before engaging Killa directly. Extract fast after kill - Interchange draws heavy PvP during rotations.
High-pen 5.45 or 9mm +P+
Shturman
Woods
Head straight to the lumber mill and scav house area. Use terrain elevation and tree cover to pick off guards at distance before entering the compound. Shturman himself is a sniper - do not stand still in open areas.
DMR or bolt-action preferred
Sanitar
Shoreline
Route through pier or cottages and greenhouses. Sanitar patrols the health resort and beach area. Bring silenced weapons for a quiet approach - noise pulls additional guards from distance. Clear guards before rushing the boss directly.
Silenced weapon helps significantly
Tagilla
Factory
Factory is small - Tagilla will find you. Funnel him through doorways and tight corridors rather than fighting in open areas where his sledgehammer reach is hardest to dodge. He announces himself with screaming - use the audio to position before he arrives.
High pen ammo for face shield
The Goons
Lighthouse
Water treatment plant or chalet area. The Goons are three bosses simultaneously - Knight, Big Pipe, and Birdeye. Squad coordination is strongly recommended. Solo players should use terrain to split them. Birdeye snipes from distance; deal with him first.
Squad strongly recommended
Kit requirements
Recommended ammo and gear
| Item type | Recommended | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Rifle ammo | M62 / M855A1 / BT | Pen value 60-70+ defeats Class 5-6 armor that all named bosses wear. Cheaper options like M856A1 will fail against guards. |
| Pistol / SMG ammo | 7N31 / RIP / AP 6.3 | High-pen pistol rounds for close-range guard suppression. Only viable if rifle isn't available. |
| Grenades | F-1 or RGD-5 impact | Flush guards from cover, force voice lines that reveal boss location, break guard clusters before pushing angles. |
| Medical | Painkillers + CMS / Surv12 | Guards target limbs. Heavy bleeds and fractures without treatment will kill you after the fight. Always carry bleed stoppers. |
| Magazines | 2-3 mags minimum | Boss guards frequently require multiple engagements. Running dry while a guard is still up is fatal. |
Key decisions
Solo vs. squad and when to reset
-
Solo or squad for boss rotation?Solo for faster raids, quieter extraction, and less loot splitting. Squad for The Goons specifically and for new players who need backup on kill confirmation. Solo has higher PvP risk after the kill - extract immediately.
-
When to push vs. back off?Reset the raid if you hear heavy sustained gunfire near the boss area and you are not in position. Third-party teams are better equipped and waiting for weakened players. Early spawns give first-mover advantage - arrive before the fight happens, not after.
-
Scav runs or PMC runs?Scav runs work well for practice and for low-risk loot passes during rotation weeks. PMC runs are needed for quest kills and to bring in specific gear. Mix both across a session to maximize value per hour.
Common mistakes
What gets players killed during rotations
- Queuing without checking the rotation. Low-pen ammo on a Class 6 boss, or showing up to the wrong map entirely. Two minutes spent confirming the active boss is never wasted.
- Pushing the full boss group at once. Rushing into a group of three guards plus the boss means taking fire from all directions. Isolate with grenades, corners, and elevation before closing distance.
- Over-looting after the kill. Rotation weeks turn maps into deathmatches. Every second spent looting guards after the boss body is time for a third-party team to arrive and kill you with the loot already on your body.
- Tunnel-visioning on the boss and ignoring PvP. Other PMCs are doing exactly what you are doing. Check your back and flanks while approaching the spawn zone - you will be followed.
- Forgetting map-specific secondary threats. Rogues on Lighthouse, Raiders on Reserve, and player-Scavs who just spawned near your extract. The boss is not the only enemy during rotation weeks.
