Orbitals No Solo Play Switch 2 Exclusive

Core problem: Orbitals has no solo mode. It is built only for two-player asymmetric co-op. You cannot switch characters on the fly or use an AI partner. Players who bought it expecting to play alone are stuck unless they find a second person. The goal most people are trying to solve right now: play the game with only one copy and the consoles they already own.

Easiest

Local Split-Screen

One Switch 2, one copy, two full controller sets. Two pairs of Joy-Con or two Pro Controllers. You cannot share a single pair. No extra download, no internet required, full quality, no streaming delay. Best for coordinated puzzles.

Local Workaround

GameShare to Switch 1

Host on Switch 2, second player joins on Switch 1, Lite, or OLED. Friend Pass installs automatically. Works locally with no noticeable lag. Online GameShare does NOT work to a Switch 1.

Remote

Online Friend Pass

Only the host needs to own the game. Second player downloads free Friend Pass from Switch 2 eShop and joins via GameChat. Both need Nintendo Switch Online. Occasional pixelation if connection is weak.

Decision rule: same room plus second person available, use local split-screen. You have a Switch 1 in the house, use local GameShare. Remote friend with a Switch 2, use Friend Pass online. No one available, use the official Discord or post your friend code on X.

Common Mistakes
