Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault 1.0 Launch Patch
1.0 launched September 2 2026. Switch 2 stability patch is live September 4. New Game and Pendant load workarounds, Vault VII story ending, shop level 5, Hardcore mode, and Infinite Endless Vault postgame order.
What players care about most right now: 1.0 launched September 2 2026, and a lot of people (especially on Switch 2) cannot start or continue a save, get stuck on the Pendant loading screen, or hit bad performance. Devs confirmed those three issues. A Switch 2 stability patch is live as of September 4. Everything else (Vault VII, Hardcore, shop level 5) only matters after the game actually boots.
1Make the Game Load Before Touching 1.0 Content
- 1Update the game.
On Switch 2, the stability patch is available now. Install it before starting New Game or Continue. New Game crash was still under investigation before this patch.
- 2If New Game or Continue fails: close the game fully, reboot the console or PC, then try Continue on an existing EA save before making a fresh file.
Start New Game and Continue issues are a known launch problem, especially on Switch 2.
- 3If you get Pendant infinite loading: do not keep holding the Pendant or force-teleporting.
Back out, fully quit, reload. This is the second issue the team named in the console megathread. Report platform and exact moment it hangs if it still happens after the patch.
- 4Performance (handheld Switch 2 or long PC sessions): play docked if handheld stutters.
Community reports from the Switch 2 demo already showed handheld dropping below a stable 30 in combat and town. The 1.0 patch is aimed at that. On PC or Deck, if stutter ramps up after long play, pause and sit in a menu for a bit.
2After It Boots: What 1.0 Added and the Order to Use It
- 1Finish or continue the story into Endless Vault VII.
1.0 adds the seventh Vault tier and the story ending. EA saves carry forward. You do not need a new file just to see the ending.
- 2Upgrade the shop to level 5 when you can afford it.
That extra Bloblet slot is the concrete town upgrade people mention, not cosmetics. Do this before pushing Infinite Vault or Hardcore so you take two companions.
- 3Pick up the new Endless weapon aspects and Bomb Path when they appear, don't rebuild your whole kit on day one.
Community first-impressions call the new combat and branching dungeon paths the fun part. Shop pricing is still the same loop.
- 4Treat Infinite Endless Vault as postgame gold farming, not the first thing after login.
It is the escalating post-story gauntlet.
3Hardcore: The Decision Players Are Arguing About
Hardcore makes a failed dungeon run drop the relics and progress from that run (original Moonlighter-style loss). Players who want the real shop-dungeon tension turn it on. Everyone else should leave it off until:
- 1The current patch is installed.
- 2Shop is at least level 5.
- 3You can consistently clear a full run without Pendant or teleport bugs.
Common Mistakes This Week
- Starting a brand-new file on Switch 2 before the stability update. Install the patch first.
- Spamming the Pendant when the load hangs. That is the known infinite-load case. Back out and reload.
- Enabling Hardcore to try 1.0 properly on a first session. Wait until the patch is in and the shop is level 5.
- Assuming you must wipe an EA save. Story conclusion and Vault VII are on the 1.0 update. Keep the save unless it is already corrupted.
- Judging handheld performance from the pre-patch demo. That build was already called out as not 30fps-stable in town and combat. The 1.0 patch targets it.
If It Is Still Broken
Use the console issues megathread the devs pinned. They asked for reports so they can reproduce New Game, Pendant load, and performance. Include platform (especially Switch 2), whether the file is EA-carryover or fresh, and whether the hang is New Game, Continue, or Pendant.
