Marvel's Wolverine: Omega Red Boss Fight Guide
Omega Red is the first real skill check. Parry his non-red coil slashes to fill the yellow stagger bar, dump damage only while he is staggered, and dodge anything that glows red.
Core problem: players who mash claws like regular enemies get shielded, grabbed, and drained. This is the Mission: Last Meal fight - two combat phases split by a scripted drain. Win by tapping L1 on non-red tentacle slashes to fill the stagger bar, spending damage only during the stagger, and mashing out of his grab QTE before he heals off you.
1The Loop (Whole Fight)
- 1Stay mid-range and let him commit.
Do not chase into his coils.
- 2Tap L1 the moment a non-red tentacle slash reaches you.
The left-right-overhead 3-hit string is the common starter. Each parry fills stagger.
- 3When the yellow bar fills, he staggers - now dump damage.
Close in, mash Square barrage/claw combo, use charged specials (Knee Breaker / L2 + face buttons) and Triangle Healing Strike if you have the window.
- 4Circle-dodge anything with a red glow.
Thrown debris, long coil thrusts, and the double-coil grab - sidestep it, the reach is long.
- 5If both coils wrap you, mash Square immediately.
A slow QTE lets him heal a chunk of the damage you just did.
2Phase 1 (Warehouse)
- 1Learn the 3-hit coil string: right, left, delayed overhead.
Parrying the whole string on higher difficulties fills a large chunk of stagger.
- 2He often finishes strings with a red power attack.
Dodge that last hit - do not parry it.
- 3He jumps back and throws debris.
Dodge it. Parrying projectiles usually does not build stagger.
- 4If he shells up with coils, break the guard.
Knee Breaker or a charged kick does it. Do not stand there swinging.
3After the Cutscene (Outside, Faster)
He drains you in a scripted moment and throws you outside. Same rules, faster:
- 1Red flash + crouch + both coils shooting straight: dodge sideways.
- 2Single standing coil shot: also red, dodge sideways.
- 3Faster strings and more red finishers.
One greedy combo or missed dodge often sends you back. Players who died a lot started winning when they treated it as "parry the non-red, dodge the red, leap back in after he jumps away" - not a damage race.
Key Decisions
| Choice | Rule |
|---|---|
| Parry vs dodge | Non-red coil slashes = parry (builds stagger). Red glow, grab thrusts, flying objects = dodge. Guessing wrong is the main death. |
| Aggressive vs patient | Pure turtle-parry works on lower difficulties. Higher difficulties need punish windows - overwhelm after every dodge and leap when he creates space. |
| The grab QTE | Never let it linger. He heals off you while it runs. |
Common Mistakes
- Mashing Square before he is staggered - he just shields.
- Trying to parry red attacks.
- Standing in his face the whole time - grabs and heavy lashes punish it.
- Ignoring the grab QTE so he tops his health back up.
- Saving every special for "the perfect moment" instead of spending them on the first stagger.
