Zorua in Pokemon GO

The Tricky Fox Pokemon never appears on the map as itself — it spawns disguised as your current Buddy Pokemon and only drops the act after you catch it. Once you know the tells, it's one of the easier rare spawns to farm.

Fastest way to find Zorua: set a Buddy that never spawns in the wild — a legendary, a costumed Pokemon, or Zorua itself. Then every duplicate of your buddy on the map is a guaranteed Zorua. Catch it, and the "Oh?" reveal plays.

How the disguise works

    Legendaries, region-locked Pokemon, costumed Pikachu — anything that can't spawn naturally makes every sighting a guaranteed Zorua in disguise.

    If you've already caught one, setting it as your buddy removes the guessing entirely — wild Zorua appear undisguised.

Shiny Zorua and the October Community Day

Zorua headlined the October 10, 2026 Community Day (2–5 PM local) — the biggest single injection of shiny Zorua to date.

Available and permanent since its release — a blue-white fox versus the usual red-black. Community Day odds ran around 1 in 24; outside events it's standard wild shiny rates.

Sucker Punch Zoroark

Zorua evolved during the event or within four hours after learned the exclusive Fast Attack Sucker Punch — the deadline was 9 PM local on October 10.

Still catchable now

The disguise mechanic is permanent — Zorua spawns year-round as your buddy's double. Event over doesn't mean hunt over.

Unovan only

The Community Day featured regular Zorua — Hisuian Zorua was not part of the event and doesn't share the boosted spawns.
