WOW51900309 - "No Realms Are Currently Available"
You log in and WoW says no realms exist - which is obviously wrong. This error almost always means the realm list is offline (post-maintenance) or your client is holding stale data.
TL;DR: WOW51900309 appears when the realm list is unavailable - Blizzard says it typically happens right after weekly maintenance finishes, while realms are still coming back online. Fully exit both the game and the Battle.net app, relaunch, and try again. During the WoW Forever launch window (name reservation Oct 27 - Nov 3, launch Nov 4) expect it more often.
Why it happens
Realms still restarting
The classic cause: maintenance just ended and the realm list hasn't come back up yet. The error is literal - from your client's view, no realms are up.
Launch-window load
WoW Forever's name-reservation week has login servers under heavy load. A struggling realm list produces the same error even outside scheduled maintenance.
Stale local cache
If the realm list is fine and only you get 309, outdated cached data in Battle.net or WoW's local files is the usual suspect.
Fixes, in order
- 1Exit the game AND the Battle.net app
This is Blizzard's own recommended step. Quit both completely - Battle.net keeps running in the system tray otherwise - then relaunch the app and the game.
- 2Wait 15-30 minutes
If it's post-maintenance or launch-load, the realm list simply isn't back yet. Check the realm status page instead of retry-looping.
- 3Check for a client update
A pending WoW or Battle.net update can leave your client unable to read the realm list. Fully shut down the PC for a few minutes if no update appears, then Scan and Repair.
- 4Clear cached data
Delete the Battle.net cache files, then rename WoW's Cache, WTF and Interface folders - corrupted local files can stall the realm handshake until it fails.
- 5Check your connection path
Restart the router and check firewall/security exceptions for Blizzard apps. If everything else works except WoW, your ISP's routing to Blizzard can be the cause - that's a provider problem, not a settings one.
FAQ
Are the realms actually gone?
No - "no realms are currently available" is the realm list failing to load, not realms being deleted. Your characters and reserved names are untouched.
I can log into PTR but not live - is that this error?
Yes, that's a known pattern with 309 - the live realm list is down or your cached data for it is stale while the PTR list still loads.
Does it affect name reservation?
You can't reserve names while the realm list won't load, but the reservation window (Oct 27 - Nov 3) leaves room to retry. Names you already claimed stay claimed.
Different from WOW51900102?
309 = the realm list itself won't load. 102 = you got disconnected mid-login or mid-session. Related family, different stage - see the WOW51900102 guide for the disconnect version.
