Void Reaver — Risk of Rain 2 Enemy Guide
The walking jellyfish of the Void family doesn't hit hard — it hits permanently. Its bombs can root you in place, and when it dies it implodes in a delayed blast that instantly kills anything in range. Here's exactly how both mechanics work.
Its two mechanics
- 1Void Artillery — Nullifier Bombs
Drops a line of bombs near you that detonate after ~1 second for modest damage — but each hit stacks Nullify. At 3 stacks you're Nullified: movement speed drops to 0 until stacks reset. Its range is enormous, so it opens fire the moment it spots you.
- 2Implosion on death — the killer
Three seconds after the Reaver dies, it detonates in a large radius that instantly kills anything inside — you, your turrets, your allies, and other monsters. A siren wail and a collapsing sphere of void particles herald it. Run.
How to fight it
Strafe the bomb line
Nullifier Bombs land in a spaced line along your position — keep moving perpendicular to the line and they whiff. Standing still is how the Nullify stacks build.
Kill it at range
Dealing the finishing blow from distance gives you a free head start on the implosion. If it dies next to you, you have ~3 seconds to leave.
Listen for the siren
The implosion cue is audio-first — a rising wail plus the void sphere. On a cluttered screen, ears beat eyes.
Turn it on the horde
The implosion is friendly fire — it kills other monsters, even other Reavers (which then implode too, chaining). Pull mobs into a dying Reaver's radius and let the Void clear the field.
FAQ
Why did I instantly die when the Void Reaver died?
Its death implosion deals a special "Void Death" damage type — it kills whatever it touches regardless of your health, armor or defensive items. Move out of the sphere the moment you hear the siren.
Does one-shot protection save you from the implosion?
No — Void Death bypasses OSP, armor and protection items entirely. The exception is effects that remove your hitbox completely, since you can't be hit in the first place.
What does the Nullify debuff do?
Each Nullifier Bomb hit applies a Nullify stack; at three stacks you're Nullified — movement speed drops to 0 — then the stacks reset. Getting rooted mid-fight is what makes the bomb line dangerous.
Can one Reaver's implosion kill another?
Yes — implosions damage enemies as well as players, and a Reaver killed by an implosion implodes itself, causing chains in dense packs.
