Two Minute Drill Game
A free daily football puzzle built around the most stressful job in the NFL — the two-minute drill. Take over a real late-game situation, call every play yourself, and see how your decisions grade out. Fan-made, not affiliated with the NFL.
What you're actually playing
Every daily spot drops you into an ending that really happened — same score, clock and field position for every player.
A real game situation
You inherit the end of a genuine NFL matchup from recent seasons: the scoreboard, the down and distance, the timeouts each side has left.
You're the play-caller
Pick from a real coordinator's menu — runs, quick passes, deep shots, RPOs and trick plays. On passing plays you can tweak a route and choose your target.
The clock is the opponent
Hurry to the line or bleed the play clock. Spikes, kneel-downs, timeouts, field goals and onside kicks all become options when the situation calls for them.
Every call is graded
Each decision is compared against the optimal call by win probability. Finish the drive and you get a percentile score against simulated NFL play-callers.
How the grading works
Results don't decide your grade — decision quality does. A good call that fails still scores well.
| Grade | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green | The best call, or within half a point of win chance of it |
| Yellow | Close enough — a defensible alternative |
| Orange | Costly — you surrendered real win probability |
| Red | A major mistake — the kind of call that gets coaches fired |

Calls that grade well
Know what score you need first
Down 4 late, kicking a field goal is a red grade no matter how safe it feels — only a touchdown wins it. Read the scoreboard before the playbook.
Timeouts are worth more than seconds
Letting the clock run while you save a timeout "for later" is the most common way to tank your grade — the grader prices every second you waste.
Work the sidelines when trailing
Getting out of bounds stops the clock. Late in a comeback, boundary routes almost always grade better than attacks over the middle.
Ahead late? Drain their timeouts
In run-out-the-clock spots, forcing the opponent to spend timeouts is itself worth win probability — conservative calls grade green there, hero ball grades red.
